Polymeric monolithic microcartridges with gold nanoparticles for the analysis of protein biomarkers by on-line solid-phase extraction capillary elect…
2020
In this study, polymeric monoliths with gold nanoparticles (AuNP@monolith) were investigated as microcartridges for the analysis of protein biomarkers by on-line solid-phase extraction capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (SPE-CE-MS). “Plug-and-play” microcartridges (7 mm) were prepared from a glycidyl methacrylate (GMA)-based monolithic capillary column (5 cm x 250 µm i.d.), which was modified with ammonia and subsequently functionalized with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The performance of these novel microcartridges was evaluated with human transthyretin (TTR), which is a protein related to different types of familial amyloidotic polyneuropathies (FAP). Protein retention depended on…
NEXT-100 Technical Design Report (TDR). Executive summary
2012
[EN] In this Technical Design Report (TDR) we describe the NEXT-100 detector that will search for neutrinoless double beta decay (ßß0v) in 136XE at the Laboratorio Subterráneo de Canfranc (LSC), in Spain. The document formalizes the design presented in our Conceptual Design Report (CDR): an electroluminescence time projection chamber, with separate readout planes for calorimetry and tracking, located, respectively, behind cathode and anode. The detector is designed to hold a maximum of about 150 kg of xenon at 15 bar, or 100 kg at 10 bar. This option builds in the capability to increase the total isotope mass by 50% while keeping the operating pressure at a manageable level. The readout pla…

Uzlabotā metodoloģija mikotoksīnu un pesticīdu noteikšanai garšvielās, izmantojot Orbitrap augstas izšķirtspējas masspektrometriju
2015
Neoclassical growth, manufacturing agglomeration, and terms of trade
2007
This paper presents an integrated view of economic growth, development traps, and economic geography. We explain why there is income convergence among some countries (neoclassical regime) and income divergence among others (poverty trap regime). Income convergence (divergence) and manufacturing industry diffusion (agglomeration) are re-enforcing each other in a cumulative process. Moreover, trade openness may trigger a catch-up process of an economy that is stuck in a \"poverty trap\". This catch-up is characterized by an increase in the investment-to-GDP ratio and an improvement of the terms of trade. A new dynamic welfare gain of trade liberalization is identified, which is likely to be l…
Can an unglamorous non-event affect prices? The role of newspapers
2016
AbstractOur paper offers evidence that the print media can affect stock prices by covering public information. After price-to-book value figures of Italian listed shares were first published on the major national financial newspaper, the prices of value stocks did, on average, show a positive reaction. The price reaction was limited to small caps stocks and disappeared within three weeks. Over the period of analysis, we could not find any abnormal behaviour of the returns of small and value stocks on other European markets. These findings support the view that newspapers play a role in disseminating information to small investors and grabbing their attention, even if news are continuously r…
The sculpture of the Madonna of Trapani of the Santuario dell'Annunziata, referring to Nino Pisano, who introduces the iconography of the Virgin in loving conversation, favoured the production of numerous copies of the marble simulacrum since the 15th century. The alabastrine statue of the Madonna and Child of the Diocesan Museum of…
The Circulation of Alabaster Versions of the Madonna of Trapani in the Mediterranean Area (Sicily, Malta and Spain). An Artistic, Cultural, Religious…
2019
This paper deals with the phenomenon of the diffusion of small religious works of art, in particular the alabaster copies of the Madonna of Trapani, in the Mediterranean, between the second half of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and attempts to interpret this diffusion not only within the historical-artistic context but also from a religious, economic and social viewpoint.
