L’accident vasculaire cérébral en France : patients hospitalisés pour AVC en 2014 et évolutions 2008-2014

2017

ntroduction – In France, stroke is the first cause of death in women, and the third in men. The age-standardized rates of patients hospitalized for stroke increased in patients younger than 65 years between 2002 and 2008. After the implementation of the “National Stroke Action Plan” (2010-2014), this study analyzed trends in the rates of patients hospitalized for stroke and of patients hospitalized in stroke units since 2008.Methods – Data came from the French national hospital discharge databases (PMSI-MCO, 2008-2014). For each patient, the first annual hospitalization for stroke was selected. Crude hospitalized patients and in-hospital mortality rates were calculated by stroke subtypes, a…

The effect of organizational separation on individuals' knowledge sharing in MNCs

2017

Abstract The ability of an organization to apply knowledge globally has been conceptualized as critical for the existence of multinational corporations (MNCs). We argue for an organizational separation effect on knowledge sharing that challenges the view of the MNC as a latent social community. Using a unique data-set of more than 4000 individual responses from an MNC, Telenor, we test how three types of drivers for individuals’ knowledge sharing – individuals’ motivation, and individuals’ perceptions of organizational values and organizational work practices – work differently within, as opposed to across, business units. Our analysis suggests that while intrinsic motivation, innovative va…

Climate and cultural aspects in intensive care units

2011

Research carried out in the field of work and organisational psychology shows that work unit climate and culture are important determinants of work unit performance. We briefly summarise what we have learnt about the climate-performance relationship in work units distinct from ICUs. Then, we show how the ICU culture can be measured, and summarise research on the culture-performance relationship in ICUs.

Combining multi-typologies landslide susceptibility maps: a case study for the Visso area (central Italy)

2023

The research proposes a simple but geomorphologically adequate method to produce a combined landslide susceptibility map. In fact, in a logic of real use, offering type-specific landslide susceptibility maps to land use planners and administration could be not a successful solution. On the other hand, the simple grouping of more types of landslides could be misleading for model calibration considering that the relationships between slope failures and geo-environmental predictors should be conveyed by the abundance of each type of landslide resulting not specific and diagnostic for each typology. In this test, after having produced independent models for flow, slide and complex landslide by …

Poly(alkoxyphenylene-thienylene) Langmuir-Schäfer thin-films for advanced performance transistors

2005

Solution processed Langmuir-Scha ̈fer and cast thin films of regioregular poly(2,5-dioctyloxy-1,4- phenylene-alt-2,5-thienylene) are investigated as transistor active layers. The study of their field-effect properties evidences that no transistor behavior can be seen with a cast film channel material. This was not surprising considering the twisted conformation of the polymer backbone predicted by various theoretical studies. Strikingly, the Langmuir-Scha ̈fer (LS) thin films exhibit a field-effect mobility of 5 × 10-4 cm2/V‚s, the highest attained so far with an alkoxy-substituted conjugated polymer. Extensive optical, morphological, and structural thin-film characterization supports the a…

Architecture-Driven Level Set Optimization: From Clustering to Sub-pixel Image Segmentation

2016

Thanks to their effectiveness, active contour models (ACMs) are of great interest for computer vision scientists. The level set methods (LSMs) refer to the class of geometric active contours. Comparing with the other ACMs, in addition to subpixel accuracy, it has the intrinsic ability to automatically handle topological changes. Nevertheless, the LSMs are computationally expensive. A solution for their time consumption problem can be hardware acceleration using some massively parallel devices such as graphics processing units (GPUs). But the question is: which accuracy can we reach while still maintaining an adequate algorithm to massively parallel architecture? In this paper, we attempt to…

Photoaffinity Labeling and Photoaffinity Cross-Linking of Phosphofructokinase-1 from Saccharomyces cerevisiae by 8-Azidoadeninenucleotides

2001

Phosphofructokinase-1 from Saccharomyces cerevisiae is composed of four alpha- and four beta-subunits, each of them carrying catalytic and regulatory bindings sites for MgATP. In this paper, various photoaffinity labels, such as 8-azidoadenosine 5'-triphosphate, 8-azido-1,N6-ethenoadenosine 5'-triphosphate, and 8-N3-3'(2')-O-biotinyl-8-azidoadenosine 5'-triphosphate have been used to study their interaction with the enzyme in the dark and during irradiation. All nucleotidetriphosphates function as phosphate donor forming fructose 1,6-bisphosphate from fructose 6-phosphate. However, the kinetic analysis revealed distinctly differences between them. Photolabeling causes a decrease in enzyme a…

Burza we frazeologii czeskiej

2019

Przedmiotem analizy są jednostki frazeologiczne prezentujące obraz burzy jako zjawiska meteorologicznego w języku czeskim. Przedstawione zostały frazeologizmy z nadrzędnym komponentem bouřka i komponentami blesk, hrom, vítr, określającymi zjawiska towarzyszące burzy, stanowiące równocześnie jej podstawowe oznaki utrwalone w języku. Omówione w artykule jednostki frazeologiczne służą wyrażaniu głównie negatywnego wartościowania, które wypływa z ludzkiego doświadczenia, z kontaktu z groźnymi zjawiskami przyrodniczymi. Opisują one przede wszystkim cechy fizyczne człowieka, jego zachowania, emocje oraz relacje międzyludzkie, rzadziej natomiast elementy otaczającego świata, i utrwalają takie cech…

Anandamide inhibits IL-12p40 production by acting on the promoter repressor element GA-12: Possible involvement of the COX-2 metabolite prostamide E 2

2007

The eCB [endoCB (cannabinoid)] system is being considered as a novel therapeutic target for immune disorders. Cytokines of the IL-12 (interleukin-12) family have essential functions in cell-mediated immunity. In the present study, we have addressed the mechanisms of action of the eCB AEA (anandamide) on the regulation of IL-12p40 in activated microglia/macrophages. We demonstrated that AEA can inhibit the expression of p35, p19 and p40 subunits, which form the biologically-active cytokines IL-12 and IL-23 in microglia stimulated with LPS (lipopolysaccharide)/IFNγ (interferon γ). Additionally, we have provided evidence that AEA reduces the transcriptional activity of the IL-12p40 gene in LPS…

Coupling of endothelin receptors to the ERK/MAP kinase pathway. Roles of palmitoylation and G(alpha)q.

2001

Endothelins are potent mitogens that stimulate extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK/MAP kinases) through their cognate G-protein-coupled receptors, ET(A) and ET(B). To address the role of post-translational ET receptor modifications such as acylation on ERK activation and to identify relevant downstream effectors coupling the ET receptor to the ERK signaling cascades we have constructed a panel of palmitoylation-deficient ET receptor mutants with differential G(alpha) protein binding capacity. Endothelin-1 stimulation of wild-type ET(A) or ET(B) induced a fivefold to sixfold increase in ERK in COS-7 and CHO cells whereas full-length nonpalmitoylated ET(A) and ET(B) mutants failed to …
