A New Educational Model to Train Parents for a Successful Upbringing of Children: A European Cross-national Study

Abstract The quality of parenting skills is fundamental to the children's well-being. The project “BE Supportive, NOT violent! Positive parenting for happy children!”, funded by the European Commission, proposes a new model of positive parenting to provide and reinforce parents’ knowledge, resources and tools to achieve a positive relationship and communication with their children. The model has been implemented twice with parents from Romania, Spain, Latvia, Poland, Italy and Sweden with positive results.

Artykuł podejmuje wstępną identyfikację koncepcji Kazimierza Korniłowicza w perspektywie współczesnej pedagogiki społecznej. Zakres zainteresowań Korniłowicza obejmował przede wszystkim zagadnienia oświaty młodzieży pracującej i dorosłych. Jego ustalenia i poglądy są współcześnie nadal aktualne chociażby w perspektywie animacji społeczno-kulturalnej i poradnictwa społecznego. Kazimierz Korniłowicz należy do grona prekursorów polskiej pedagogiki społecznej i innych subdyscyplin nauk pedagogicznych.

This paper presents parentification phenomenon from pedagogical perspective. Parentification means a role reversal between parent and child, when the child takes care ofhis/her parent. lt is divided into two types: instrumental and emotional. lt is particularly common in dysfunctional families, especially families with alcohol problems. Parentified childhood experiences will have significant influence on adult life.
