Tożsamość śląska jest przedmiotem szeroko zakrojonych badań politologów, socjologów i historyków. W większości skupiają się oni na poszukiwaniu jej genezy. W niniejszym artykule autor zamierza spojrzeć na tożsamość jako na zjawisko podlegające głębokiej ewolucji na przestrzeni lat. Odnosząc się do przytoczonej hipotezy „Śląska wymyślonego” spróbuje dokonać próby klarownego podziału pomiędzy tym co stanowi historyczny trzon tożsamości śląskiej, a tym co w XX wieku zostało wpisane w śląski kod kulturowy.

Artykuł prezentuje różnorodne aspekty użycia metafory pomostu w odniesieniu do Śląska, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Górnego Śląska. Region ten jest przedstawiany metaforycznie jako pomost pomiędzy Polską a Niemcami oraz mieszkańcami obu krajów. Szczególna rola w tworzeniu tych więzi przypada mniejszości niemieckiej, która jest częstokroć określana jako pomost. Metafora ta jest rozszerzana o kolejne płaszczyzny znaczeniowe, jak np. pomost do Europy czy pomost między narodami. Autorka zauważa jednak, że Śląsk nie jest jedynym regionem pretendującym do bycia pomostem. Także inne europejskie miasta, regiony, jak i całe państwa chcą być postrzegane w tej roli.

Autor tekstu, odwołując się do skomplikowanego kontekstu historyczno-politycznego regionu, opisuje, w jaki sposób powojenne władze wykorzystywały politycznie regionalizm i jakie były konsekwencje polityki władz w odniesieniu do ludności zamieszkującej opolską część Górnego Śląska.
Search for high-mass resonances decaying to dimuons at CDF.

We present a search for high-mass neutral resonances using dimuon data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.3 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at s=1.96 TeV by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. No significant excess above the standard model expectation is observed in the dimuon invariant-mass spectrum. We set 95% confidence level upper limits on sigma BR(pp -> X ->mu mu), where X is a boson with spin-0, 1, or 2. Using these cross section limits, we determine lower mass limits on sneutrinos in R-parity-violating supersymmetric models, Z(') bosons, and Kaluza-Klein gravitons in the Randall-Sundrum model.

Several entities of syndromic frontonasal dysplasia have been described, among which, to date, only a few have identified molecular bases. We adopt an operatorial method based on the so-called creation, annihilation and number operators in the description of different systems in which two populations interact and move in a two-dimensional region. In particular, we discuss diffusion processes modeled by a quadratic hamiltonian. This general procedure will be adopted, in particular, in the description of migration phenomena. With respect to our previous analogous results, we use here fermionic operators since they automatically implement an upper bound for the population densities.

HISTORY: A 38-year-old man had been suffering from circumscribed scleroderma for 12 years. Dysphagia had been diagnosed 5 years ago and for the last 2 years he had retrosternal dysphagia for solid and liquid food.
