Kinetics of lactate fermentation and citrate bioconversion by LactococcusIactisssp.Iactisin batch culture

The growth kinetics of Lactococcus lactis ssp. lactis were studied in batch culture in conditions of non-limiting lactose and the presence of citric acid. The control of pH modified growth and citrate metabolism but did not change the yield of acid formation. At controlled pH the growth rate was unaffected by citrate metabolism. Lactose was transformed to L-lactate and assay of the metabolic by-products showed some heterofermentation at the end of the growth of cultures with low growth rates. This heterofermentation was interpreted as a slowing down of glycolysis with activation of both the pyruvate formate lyase (PFL) and the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDHC). Armoton maa (Law of the Land, Jussi Hiltunen, 2017) is a contemporary western set on a peripheral border region in western Lapland, Finland. Combining crime story and family drama, it is a complex case of genre hybridity. This chapter asks how Law of the Land adapts elements from Nordic noir and modifies the Lapland film, a mixture of films set in Lapland. The melancholy mood and the dark aesthetic links the film to Nordic noir, which has traveled to remote regions recently. However, Lapland can also be seen as a Finnish version of the Wild West. Exotic and Primitive Lapland : Othering in The Earth Is a Sinful Song (1973)

This article contributes to postcolonial cultural criticism by analyzing how since the 1920s, Lapland and its residents have been portrayed as exotic Others in Finnish feature films that are set in Lapland. The roots of the othering of Lapland go back to the nationalist aspirations of the Finns. The geographical distance of the northern region has bred mental distance, because of which Lapland has remained a source of exoticism for filmmakers, who almost invariably come from the South. Primary malignant mesenchymal neoplasms of the larynx are rare. Sarcomas of the larynx account for <1% of all malignant laryngeal mesenchymal neoplasms. This report examines a case of a recurring laryngeal, initial benign-appearing mesenchymal tumour, which first changed its clinical phenotype without any histological signs of malignancy and later also its histological appearance with signs of malignancy. Finally, it even underwent a transformation into a higher grade of malignancy. In addition to this, the difficulties of allocating this tumour to the correct sarcoma subentity are shown.

Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Sociālo kampaņu vēstījums vardarbības mazināšanai pret sievietēm. 3 postpadomju valstu piemēru analīze”. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā tiek attēlotas sievietes sociālās kampaņās un kādi reklāmas elementi tiek izmantoti, lai kampaņas materiāli paliktu auditorijai atmiņā. Bakalaura darbs sastāv no trīs daļām. Pirmā daļā balstās uz femensima un mārketinga teoriju, reklāmu un reklāmas elementiem. Otrajā daļā aprakstītas metode, kas tiek izmantotas darbā – kontentanalīze, naratīvs un aptauja. Trešā daļā tiek aprakstīti iegūtie rezultāti un izdarīti secinājumi.
