Existence, nonexistence and uniqueness of positive solutions for nonlinear eigenvalue problems

We study the existence of positive solutions for perturbations of the classical eigenvalue problem for the Dirichlet $p-$Laplacian. We consider three cases. In the first the perturbation is $(p-1)-$sublinear near $+\infty$, while in the second the perturbation is $(p-1)-$superlinear near $+\infty$ and in the third we do not require asymptotic condition at $+\infty$. Molecular connectivity has been applied to the search of new compounds with activity against the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, using a stepwise linear discriminant analysis (SLDA) which is able to classify a compound according its activity either as active or as inactive. Among the selected compounds, andrographolide and dibenzotiophene sulfone stand out, both with IC50 values lower than 1 microgram/ml, which are comparable to these of drugs such as sulfamethoxazole, pyrimethamine and trimethoprim, with IC50 values equal to 1.1, 0.04 and 2.31 micrograms/ml, respectively. Critical current modulation induced by an electric field in superconducting tungsten-carbon nanowires

The critical current of a superconducting nanostructure can be suppressed by applying an electric field in its vicinity. This phenomenon is investigated throughout the fabrication and electrical characterization of superconducting tungsten-carbon (W-C) nanostructures grown by Ga+ focused ion beam induced deposition (FIBID). In a 45 nm-wide, 2.7 μm-long W-C nanowire, an increasing side-gate voltage is found to progressively reduce the critical current of the device, down to a full suppression of the superconducting state below its critical temperature. This paper focuses on the challenges in managing innovation within supply networks. We present an empirical study on innovation collaboration between a focal company and its supply network of small and medium sized enterprises. By analysing the case from the viewpoints of the focal company, the suppliers and investors we point out three controversial issues in innovation management within the supply network: intellectual property rights, partnering versus competition, and commitment versus independency.
