Wartości edukacyjne i wychowawcze w „niezależnych” grach wideo
2017
In the second decade of the XXI century we can observe a new trend in videogames industry - development of independent games, often called indie. These games tend to bring back long forgotten and lost for the gamę media trends and aspects, like punishing difficulty, some less popular gamę genres like RTS’s and educational values, that were dropped by major gamę developers around the year 2000. This gamę present us with a great variety of themes and mechanics, that themselves give us opportunity of using games in education. They can of course be informative, but this is not merely enough to be usable in education but thankfully they, as games, present us with unique features for this media -…

Worldviews and National Values in Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish Early Childhood Education and Care Curricula
2021
This paper examines how worldviews and national values are displayed in the national (Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) curricula of Sweden, Finland and Norway. The specific interest is to investigate what similarities and differences there are between these three ECEC curricula with regard to the position of religions and other worldviews. ECEC is often the first societal arena for children to enter and to negotiate their personal values, worldviews, and memberships in relation to the values represented in the surrounding social context. Countries employ different policies for dealing with diversity. Home languages for example, are often supported whereas for home cultures and worl…
Examining the antecedents and consequences of perceived value : a case study of mobile banking application usage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
2022
Recent advancements in information, communications, and mobile technologies have revolutionized banking and payment services as well as consumer behavior. This study examines the continuous usage experience of mobile financial services, and especially mobile banking services, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), the context of this study. Data were collected from 300 experienced mobile banking users across the KSA using a pre-tested survey instrument. The partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data. The results supported most of the hypotheses and revealed that e-service quality, e-information quality, and experience flow have a significant an…
Collaboration network for inspiring children and youth into science, mathematics and technology in Finland
2021
The importance of STEM education is widely recognized. Despite the value of the sector and good associated employment prospects, young students generally lack interest in science and engineering. This is reflected in the difficulty universities experience in recruiting qualified students for STEM subjects, which in turn is reflected in business life and is a factor slowing down countries’ economic development. In Finland, efforts have been made to solve this challenge by launching the LUMA Centre Finland network, which consists of 13 university-related centres promoting STEM issues throughout Finland. This paper describes the network and its objectives, with a special focus on the activitie…
Value Co-creation for Smart Villages: The Institutionalization of Regional Service Ecosystems
2020
Building a versatile portfolio of public and private digital-enabled services is vital in rural and sparsely populated regions, where traditional market mechanisms alone cannot guarantee the availability of essential services. However, contemporary services tend to build on prevalent institutions, often governed by decisions based on market mechanisms, such as economies of scale – service-by-service and village-by-village. A shift is suggested towards networks of smart villages co-creating value as regional service ecosystems. We draw from institutional theory and employ the Service-dominant logic (SDL) framework in investigating value co-creation in rural villages in Sweden. Analyzing 53 l…
High-Reynolds-number turbulent cavity flow using the lattice Boltzmann method
2018
We present a boundary condition scheme for the lattice Boltzmann method that has significantly improved stability for modeling turbulent flows while maintaining excellent parallel scalability. Simulations of a three-dimensional lid-driven cavity flow are found to be stable up to the unprecedented Reynolds number $\mathrm{Re}=5\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{4}$ for this setup. Excellent agreement with energy balance equations, computational and experimental results are shown. We quantify rises in the production of turbulence and turbulent drag, and determine peak locations of turbulent production.
Game-Theoretic Approach to Hölder Regularity for PDEs Involving Eigenvalues of the Hessian
2021
AbstractWe prove a local Hölder estimate for any exponent $0<\delta <\frac {1}{2}$ 0 < δ < 1 2 for solutions of the dynamic programming principle $$ \begin{array}{@{}rcl@{}} u^{\varepsilon} (x) = \sum\limits_{j=1}^{n} \alpha_{j} \underset{\dim(S)=j}{\inf} \underset{|v|=1}{\underset{v\in S}{\sup}} \frac{u^{\varepsilon} (x + \varepsilon v) + u^{\varepsilon} (x - \varepsilon v)}{2} \end{array} $$ u ε ( x ) = ∑ j = 1 n α j inf dim ( S ) = j sup v ∈ S | v | = 1 u ε ( x + ε v ) + u ε ( x − ε v ) 2 with α1,αn > 0 and α2,⋯ ,αn− 1 ≥ 0. The proof is based on a new coupling idea from game theory. As an application, we get the same regularity estimate for viscosity solutions of the PDE $…
