Theoretical Insights into the Ferromagnetic Coupling in Oxalato-Bridged Chromium(III)-Cobalt(II) and Chromium(III)-Manganese(II) Dinuclear Complexes …

2012

Two novel heterobimetallic complexes of formula [Cr(bpy)(ox)(2)Co(Me(2)phen)(H(2)O)(2)][Cr(bpy)(ox)(2)]·4H(2)O (1) and [Cr(phen)(ox)(2)Mn(phen)(H(2)O)(2)][Cr(phen)(ox)(2)]·H(2)O (2) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, and Me(2)phen = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) have been obtained through the "complex-as-ligand/complex-as-metal" strategy by using Ph(4)P[CrL(ox)(2)]·H(2)O (L = bpy and phen) and [ML'(H(2)O)(4)](NO(3))(2) (M = Co and Mn; L' = phen and Me(2)phen) as precursors. The X-ray crystal structures of 1 and 2 consist of bis(oxalato)chromate(III) mononuclear anions, [Cr(III)L(ox)(2)](-), and oxalato-bridged chromium(III)-cobalt(II) and chromium(III)-manganese(II) din…

Sodium Congener of the Classical Lithium Methylchromate Dimer: Synthetic, X-ray Crystallographic, and Magnetic Studies of Me8Cr2[Na(OEt2)]4

2011

One of the milestone structures in the development of transition-metal complexes with metal metal bonds of multiple bond order was the lithium methylchromate dimer Me8Cr2[Li(donor)](4) (donor = THF or Et2O). Using a simple salt metathesis reaction mixing this compound with sodium tert-butoxide, the sodium congener Me8Cr2-[Na(OEt2)]4 has been synthesized as a green crystalline compound and isolated in 51% yield. Its solid-state structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Exhibiting exact crystallographic C-4h symmetry, this heavier alkali-metal chromate structure is also dimeric, formally comprising a (Me8Cr4)(4-) tetranionic core with four peripheral Na+ cations carrying s…

Modeling of continuous Ph-stat stirred tank reactor withLactococcus lactisssp.lactisbv.diacetylactisimmobilized in calcium alginate gel beads

1995

A dynamic diffusion-reaction-growth model is proposed for the study of lactic fermentation, the bioconversion of citric acid, and cell release in an immobilized cell reactor [pH-stat continuous stirred tank-reactor (CSTR)]. The model correctly simulates the onset of fermentation and colonization of the gel, followed by the steady state. External diffusion is nonlimiting and internal diffusion is limited by high cell densities at the periphery of the gel beads. Lactose-citrate cometabolism in the gel is related to the distribution of active included biomass within the gel and to gradients of substrates (lactose, citrate) and products (lactate, pH) in the beads. The utilization of lactose is …

CO2 conversion in a photocatalytic continuous membrane reactor

2016

The reduction of CO2 with water by using photocatalysts is one of the most promising new methods for achieving CO2 conversion to valuable hydrocarbons such as methanol (MeOH). In this work, prepared TiO2-Nafion (TM)-based membranes were used in a photocatalytic membrane reactor, operated in continuous mode, for converting CO2 to methanol. By using the membrane with the best TiO2 distribution, a MeOH flow rate/TiO2 weight of 45 mu mol (g(catalyst) h)(-1) was measured when operating at 2 bar of feed pressure. This value is higher than those reported in most of the literature data to date. Moreover, methanol production is considered as a relevant advance over the existing literature results wh…

Evolution of the Human chromosome 7: new information from the mapping of William-Breuren locus on non human primates chromosomes.

2004

Human chromosome 7 (HSA7) derives, by a pericentric inversion and a paracentric inversion, from an ancestral chromosome homologous to chromosome 10 of Pongo pygmaeus (the Asiatic Orang-Utan). Nevertheless the genesis of this autosome during primates evolution is not clear. Even if chromosome painting shows that HAS 7 synteny is highly conserved, GTG-banding comparison in Hominoidea and Cercopithecoidea indicates the probable occurrence of complex rearrangements during the evolution. In this study we used a single locus FISH approach, a powerful tool to detect fine rearrangements, in order to investigate the evolution of HAS 7. We report the chromosome mapping of Williams-Beuren syndrome loc…

Conversion as Negotiation. Converts as Actors of Civil Society

2020

This article focuses on the religious movement of the Ahmadiyya and its civil society organization, Humanity First, in West-Africa and in Europe. Particular attention is paid to the place of converts within these two institutions. Conversions to an Islamic minority and the actions of this minority are studied through the prism of social commitment. I examine the intersections between religious values, the ideas of solidarity in the societies under scrutiny and, the kaleidoscopic range of Muslim charities. The paper investigates conversion as negotiation in regard to gender, social mobility, and power. Conversion is approached here as a matter of social relations and not personal belief. I a…

Sobre la Risa y el Malestar en la Cultura / On Laughter and Discomfort in Civilization

2017

Palabras clave: Risa, Malestar en la Cultura, Placer, Subversión, BakhtinAbstractThis paper aims to present the relations between laughter and cultural discomfort, analysing the works of S. Freud, H. Plessner and M. Bakhtin. We will propose that l…

What distance do university students walk and bike daily to class in Spain

2016

Abstract Introduction Physical activity levels are low in the general population and these levels decrease from childhood to adolescence, as well as from adolescence to adulthood. Active commuting (AC) is an opportunity to increase the physical activity levels. The distance between home and destinations is a main correlate of AC; however, the distance that university students walk or cycle to university is unknown. Methods Participants self-reported their modes and time of commuting to and from university in a questionnaire, and the main mode of commuting was identified. Moreover, they reported their home address, and the Spanish version of Mapquest software was used to measure street-netwo…
