Partendo dalla constatazione che la violenza di genere investe non solo il piano delle azioni, ma anche quello simbolico delle rappresentazioni e coesiste con i frame della libertà e della reciprocità, il saggio si propone di analizzare le forme di percezione, valutazione e rilevanza assegnate alla violenza, in contesti di normalità. Vengono evidenziate le situazioni in cui la violenza si manifesta ritualizzandosi, riiscritti gli elementi che la connotano, riletta la rappresentazione che ne viene fatta dai mass media. Annekatrin Kaivapalu on väitöskirjassaan tutkinut virolaisten ja venäläisten lukiolaisten suomen kielen nominien monikkotaivutuksen omaksumista. Kaivapalu selvitti, oppivatko virolaiset suomen taivutuksen helpommin kuin venäläiset oppijat, joiden äidinkielestä vastaavat taivutusmallit puuttuvat. In rabbit kidney cells infected with strains of Herpes simplex virus producing either cell-rounding or polycaryocytosis. Vinblastine induced paracrystals. This could be shown by phase-contrast- and electron-microscopy. Infections were done under one-step-growth conditions or at low MOI. 90 per cent noninfected cells contained stress fibers as detected by Servablue R250-staining. Shortly after recruitment into polycaryocytes, stress fibres of normal length appearing in criss-cross arrangement can be seen in the periphery of these cells. Transfection of lipoma cells with papilloma bovine virus subgenomic fragment.

Abstract Lipoma cells with consistent chromosomal aberration have been transfected with plasmids carrying papilloma bovine virus subgenomic fragment (PBV 69). The succesful transformation of the cells was ascerted on the changed growth pattern of the cells in liquid medium, colony formation in soft agar and modified cell appearrance in electron microscopy; transfection with PBV 69 has not been, however, sufficient to immortalize lipoma cells.

This socioculturally informed study explores how highly educated Finnish language learners represent their agency in visual narratives. Learners (n=59) were asked to draw two pictures of themselves as Finnish language users and provide verbal interpretations of the drawings. The aim of using visual narratives is to reach aspects such as feelings and beliefs which might be difficult to express verbally. The data were analyzed first by using visual grammar set out by Kress and van Leeuwen (2006) and secondly by content analysis.
