Connected and Autonomous Vehicles cooperate with the pedestrian in industrial sites based on trajectory optimization and vehicle signalization system

2020

Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAV) is the development trend in the field of transportation systems. Recent studies show that the resources sharing between pedestrians and CAV is a big challenge. Considering traffic safety and efficiency at that sharing point not only requires a collision avoidance system but also more communicative behaviors of the CAV. More precisely, pedestrian needs to understand the intention of the incoming CAV whether it will cross first or not according to its speed profile. This paper uses the optimal trajectory control to provide CAV with a communicative behavior. A scenario where CAV and pedestrian cooperate together to cross a conflict zone is studied.

2020

The paper provides food for thought on the issue of corruption in Ammianus Marcellinus’ History pointing out the need for revising the criteria of valuation of this phenomenology in order to assess it in modern conceptual terms. As a consequence Ammianus’ Res Gestae have to be analysed moving from the political, economic and social contexts as they stem not only from historiographical sources, but also from the Codes, enabling scholars to test the level of bias of the historian who was stubbornly anchored to the values of tradition that, in his opinion, coincided with the ordo’s privileges.

‘Philonikia’ e ‘timoria’ nel ‘logos’ di Ermocrate a Gela e nell’‘Olimpico’ di Lisia

2016

The aim of the paper is to underline that some themes are both in the logos  of Hermocrates of Syracuse in Gela and in the Olimpic Oration of Lysias. Purposely, two of these are the theme of philonikia , which Thucydides defined «insane», and the theme of timoria , when the revenge is legitimate and advantageous at same time. The use of such slogans by the Attic orator (even if his father was from Syracuse), testifies the desire to evoke the feeling pansikeliote awaked during the Peace of Gela, in order to spread these themes and values in Mainland Greece too.

2020

This article analyses the only translation into Spanish of Rita Mae Brown's Rubyfruit Jungle (1973), translated in Spain by Jorge Binaghi in 1979. In order to do so, the study reviews lesbian narrative in English during the 20th century and the social and political factors that might have influenced its translation in Spain. An overview on Francoist literary censorship is followed by a discussion on how the Spanish literary market has received English lesbian novels and the case of Rubyfruit Jungle. Despite being one of the first lesbian novels published in democracy in Spain, the analysis suggests that the Francoist ideological paradigms are still perpetuated and have altered the translati…

Some notes to the language of two late byzantine poems

2019

The Development of the «Comedia Nueva» Through Francisco Tárrega's Stage Directions: Dramatic Consciousness and Textual Authority

2021

Francisco Agustin Tarrega (ca.1553-1602) is the main representative of the group of playwrights known as valencian dramatic school. At the same time, he contributed to the development of the comedia nueva. Taking as a basis the studies that analyzed his production during the 80s, we seek to explore the stage directions of the ten plays we conserve today in order to achieve the following goals: considering stage directions as a connection between the text and the tablado, we will be able to gather precious information about the scene in that period, to go deeper in the dramatic consciousness of Tarrega and his writing strategies, or to think about the problems and risks that are linked to an…

2015

ABSTRACT: Prudence, as one of the cardinal virtues, is a theme that has been dealt with by numerous thinkers ever since Antiquity. Its broad treatment with regards to different aspects, such as time, governance, selection or advice, has been the object of many visual representations, which show a great variety of attributes, the foundations of which we find in written sources. Implementation of an Innovation in Education Project in the Degree of English Studies at the University of Valencia

2010

Begona.Clavel@uv.es The 21st century is and surely will be characterized by multiple and dramatic changes at all levels, but especially in the field of technology. This paper examines how some of these changes influence the way in which languages in general, and English in particular, are taught nowadays. We show how we have applied an Innovation in Education Project methodology in some modules in the degree in English Studies. Our most important instrument is our E-Learning platform (Aula Virtual) which offers us numerous ways in which to bridge the gap between our students and the team of teachers and permits our students to learn through a more interactive type of methodology.

An approach towards the visual culture of the Barroque festival : portraits of visual presences

2014

ABSTRACT: In this study I deal briefly with some issues related to the visual culture of the Baroque festival; and more specifically, with those related to the royal portraits that were on display during the festive activities. To this end I place special emphasis on developing the concepts of presence, body and virtuality –as applied to those works or visual objects– from an approach that offers a new theoretical framework, namely, that which involves «image studies» or «visual culture studies» (Bildwissenschaft, Bildanthropologie y visual studies). KEYWORDS: Baroque Festival, Royal Portraits, Presence, Body, Virtuality, Image Studies.
