Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää Englannin opetuksen tilaa ammatillisessa koulutuksessa. Suullista kielitaitoa painotetaan Ammatillisen perustutkinnon perusteissa sekä koulukohtaisissa opetussuunnitelmissa, joten myös tämä tutkimus keskittyi siihen. Vastaavia tutkimuksia on aiemmin tehty lukio-opetuksesta, mutta ei ammatillisesta opetuksesta. Aihe on tärkeä koska Suomessa osallistuu vuosittain satoja tuhansia ihmisiä ammatilliseen koulutukseen. Tutkimukseen osallistui 61 kolmannen vuoden opiskelijaa ja kolme opettajaa. Oli tärkeää, että molempien osapuolten näkemykset pääsivät esiin. A well-known challenge in vocational education and training (VET) programmes is the lack of coherence between school-based and workplace learning. The Norwegian VET model consists of two years of upper secondary education followed by two years of apprenticeship at work. Riflettere sui professionisti dell’accoglienza è un compito impegnativo e complesso. La complessità è dovuta al fatto che vi sono molteplici figure professionali che ruotano attorno al sistema di accoglienza dei migranti. Tra queste figure troviamo quella dell’educatore, il quale agisce nei contesti educativi multiculturali extrascolastici grazie alla propria formazione personale e al mandato istituzionale. Interaction between students and class teachers in vocational education and training: ‘Safety distance is needed’

Interaction between students and teachers is fundamental and has therefore been widely studied in education. However, there have been few studies on intensive spe-cial support being provided to vocational education and training (VET) students. Firstly, the focus of this article is on students’ perceptions of interactions with their class teachers. Students (aged 17–34 years) from four Finnish vocational institutions providing intensive special support were interviewed.
