Excited State Tuning of Bis(tridentate) Ruthenium(II) Polypyridine Chromophores by Push-Pull Effects and Bite Angle Optimization: A Comprehensive Exp…

2013

The synergy of push-pull substitution and enlarged ligand bite angles has been used in functionalized heteroleptic bis(tridentate) polypyridine complexes of ruthenium(II) to shift the (1) MLCT absorption and the (3) MLCT emission to lower energy, enhance the emission quantum yield, and to prolong the (3) MLCT excited-state lifetime. In these complexes, that is, [Ru(ddpd)(EtOOC-tpy)][PF6 ]2 , [Ru(ddpd-NH2 )(EtOOC-tpy)][PF6 ]2 , [Ru(ddpd){(MeOOC)3 -tpy}][PF6 ]2 , and [Ru(ddpd-NH2 ){(EtOOC)3 -tpy}][PF6 ]2 the combination of the electron-accepting 2,2';6',2''-terpyridine (tpy) ligand equipped with one or three COOR substituents with the electron-donating N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-dipyridin-2-ylpyridin…

Anionic Cyclometalated Iridium(III) Complexes with a Bis-Tetrazolate Ancillary Ligand for Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cells

2017

none 10 si A series of monoanionic Ir(III) complexes (2-4) of general formula [Ir(C^N)2(b-trz)](TBA) are presented, where C^N indicates three different cyclometallating ligands (Hppy = 2-phenylpyridine; Hdfppy = 2-(2,4-difluoro-phenyl)pyridine; Hpqu = 2-methyl-3-phenylquinoxaline), b-trz is a bis-tetrazolate anionic N^N chelator (H2b-trz = di(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)methane), and TBA = tetrabutylammonium. 2-4 are prepared in good yields by means of the reaction of the suitable b-trz bidentate ligand with the desired iridium(III) precursor. The chelating nature of the ancillary ligand, thanks to an optimized structure and geometry, improves the stability of the complexes, which have been fully char…

Oxomolybdenum(VI) complexes with glycine bisphenol [O,N,O,O’] ligand: Synthesis and catalytic studies

2014

The oxomolybdenum(VI) complex [MoOCl(L)] with a tetradentate glycine bisphenol ligand (H3L) was prepared by reaction of [MoO2Cl2(DMSO)2] with a ligand precursor in hot toluene. The product was isolated in moderate yield as separable cis and trans isomers along with the third minor component, [MoO2(HL)]. The solid-state structure of trans-[MoOCl(L)] was determined by X-ray diffraction. The ligand has tetradentate coordination through three oxygens and one nitrogen, which is located trans to the terminal oxo whereas the sixth coordination site is occupied by a chloride. Both cis and trans isomers of [MoOCl(L)] are active catalysts for epoxidation of cis-cyclooctene and sulfoxidation of tolyl …

Protonation and methylation reactions of 2-pyridyl-palladium(II) and -platinum(II) complexes

1983

Abstract The reactions of strong acids HX and HClO4 with the 2-pyridyl complexes [PdX(μ-C5H4N-C2,N)(PPh3)]2 (X = Cl, Br), trans-[PdCl(C5H4N-C2)(PEt3)2] and [PdCl(C5H4N-C2)(dppe)] yield the N-protonated derivatives cis-[PdX2-(C5H5N-C2)(PPh3)], trans-[PdCl(C5H5N-C2)(PEt3)2]ClO4 and [PdCl-(C5H5N-C2)(dppe)]ClO4, respectively. The terminal 2-pyridyl group of trans-[PdCl(C5H4N-C2)(PEt3)2] and [PdCl(C5H4N-C2)(dppe)] also reacts with Me2SO4/NaClO4 to give trans-[PdClC5H4(l-Me)N-C2(PEt3)2]ClO4 and [PdClC5H4(l-Me)N-C2(dppe)]ClO4. Analogous N-protonation or N-methylation reactions occur with trans-[PtBr(C5H4N-C2)(L)2] (L = PEt3, PPh3). The complexes trans-[MX(C5H5N-C2)(PMe2Ph)2]ClO4 (M = Pd, X = Cl an…

Combined Theoretical and Experimental Study of the Photophysics of Asulam

2013

The photophysics of the neutral molecular form of the herbicide asulam has been described in a joint experimental and theoretical, at the CASPT2 level, study. The unique π → π* aromatic electronic transition (f, ca. 0.5) shows a weak red-shift as the polarity of the solvent is increased, whereas the fluorescence band undergoes larger red-shifts. Solvatochromic data point to higher dipole moment in the excited state than in the ground state (μ(g)μ(e)). The observed increase in pKa in the excited state (pKa* - pKa, ca. 3) is consistent with the results of the Kamlet-Abboud-Taft and Catalán et al. multiparametric approaches. Fluorescence quantum yield varies with the solvent, higher in water (…

Excitation-Wavelength-Dependent Photocycle Initiation Dynamics Resolve Heterogeneity in the Photoactive Yellow Protein from Halorhodospira halophila

2018

Photoactive yellow proteins (PYPs) make up a diverse class of blue-light-absorbing bacterial photoreceptors. Electronic excitation of the p-coumaric acid chromophore covalently bound within PYP results in triphasic quenching kinetics; however, the molecular basis of this behavior remains unresolved. Here we explore this question by examining the excitation-wavelength dependence of the photodynamics of the PYP from Halorhodospira halophila via a combined experimental and computational approach. The fluorescence quantum yield, steady-state fluorescence emission maximum, and cryotrapping spectra are demonstrated to depend on excitation wavelength. We also compare the femtosecond photodynamics …

Early assessment of crop yield from remotely sensed water stress and solar radiation data

2018

Soil moisture (SM) available for evapotranspiration is crucial for food security, given the significant interannual yield variability of rainfed crops in large agricultural regions. Also, incoming solar radiation (Rs) influences the photosynthetic rate of vegetated surfaces and can affect productivity. The aim of this work is to evaluate the ability of crop water stress and Rs remotely sensed data to forecast yield at regional scale. Temperature Vegetation Dryness Index (TVDI) was computed as an indicator of crop water stress and soil moisture availability. TVDI during critical growth stage of crops was calculated from MODIS products: MODIS/AQUA 8-day composite LST at 1 km and 16-day compos…

Novel two-step synthesis of gold nanoparticles capped with bile acid conjugates

2008

Bile acids and their conjugates are physiologically important molecules. Syntheses and structure elucidation combined with investigation of properties and applications of bile acids and their derivatives are of academic interest. The concept of using bile acids and their conjugates in nanoscience is a novel idea, which opens up fascinating prospects. In this article, an easy and simple route for obtaining N-lithocholyl-L-(cysteine ethyl ester) (3), capable of effectively capping and stabilizing metal nanoparticles, is described. The whole synthetic route needs only two steps giving a moderate to good yield. The gold NPs are characterized by elemental analysis, UV spectroscopy, and TEM. Addi…

Parity and number of repeated doe-litter-separation treatments affect differently the reproductive performances of lactating does.

2010

[EN] Using data from three different experiments, the effects of oestrus synchronisation by doe-litter separation (DLS), applied 48 hours befare artificial insemination from day 9 to day 11 post partum, on productive performance of free nursing rabbit does and their litters in relation to parity and number of successive DLS treatments were evaluated. lnitially, 200 New Zealand White does of different parity were homogeneously and definitively distributed in two groups (DLS and Control). On the whole, DLS improved fertility (+23.9%, Ps0.001 ), but reduced the growth of young rabbits from day 9 to weaning (-1.7 g/d, Ps0.01) and their weaning weight (-38 g, Ps0.01) at day 35. DLS also increase…
