The impact of long-term wear of modern daily disposable contact lenses on ocular physiology
2019

Methods and Design A sociologic, multicenter, and observational study. Population: medical and nursing students in Spanish universities. Database: Collaborative International Donor Project, stratified by geographic ar…
Exploring Health Science Students' Notions on Organ Donation and Transplantation: A Multicenter Study.

We conducted a sociologic, multicenter, and observational study. The population for our study consisted of medical and nursing students in Spanish universities. Our database was the Collaborative International Donor Project, stratified by geographic area and academi…

Near-normal aerobic capacity in long-term survivors after lung transplantation
2021
The clinical course of lung transplantation (LT) is diverse: some patients present chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) and progressive decline in pulmonary function, but others maintain normal spirometric values and active lives. Objectives The aim of this study was to elucidate whether long-term LT survivors with normal spirometry achieve normal exercise capacity, and to identify predictive factors of exercise capacity. Methods This was a cross-sectional multicentre study, where bilateral LT recipients who survived at least 10 years after LT, with normal spirometry, no diagnosis of CLAD and modified Medical Research Council dyspnoea degree ≤2 underwent cardiopulmonary exercise testin…
Financial Incentives for Living Organ Transfer?
2020
In 2012, almost 4,500 people died in the United States while waiting for kidney transplants. In 2013, 4,100 died in the European Union while officially placed on waiting lists. To solve this problem, there are essentially two ethi-cally acceptable solutions; but both have, in their current state, disadvantages. The first solution would be having financial incentives for living organ transfer. The second one would be adopting a model, like the Spanish or Cro-atian ones, which we can denominate as the «imperfect altruistic» model.
