The aim of this study was to compare the effects of a strength training program (STP) using free weights (FW) versus elastic tubing (ET) in 62 premenopausal, sedentary women diagnosed with metabolic syndrome (MS). Participants were randomly assigned to the FW or ET experimental group (EG) or a control group whose members remained sedentary. Members of each EG followed their assigned STP for 12 weeks, and biomarkers (BMs) related to MS and motor function (MF) parameters were evaluated. The aim of the study was to compare the maximal physiological responses during three protocols: maximal test on land cycle ergometer, maximal test on water cycling in an indoor pool at 27 °C (WC27) and at 31 °C (WC31). Technique and safety aspects of resistance exercises: a systematic review of the literature.
A systematic review of the scientific literature was conducted to identify the optimal ranges of motion for preventing injury in the main joints of the body during resistance exercise performance. These ranges of motion are independent of the type in which the resistance exercises could be applied (ie, adults, elderly, athletes, recreational exercisers), and the regions examined include the shoulder, spine, and knee, which are injured most often. It can be concluded that during the performance of any resistance exercise, it is possible to put anatomical structures at risk with certain body positions; therefore, it is necessary to understand these movements so injury can be avoided.

Main objective of this study was to provide a basis for the comprehension of the main critical incidents (i.e. obstacles) that Chilean rowers who were medallists in the Pan American Games of Lima 2019 have to face within the academic, socioeconomic and sports processes. 19 athletes were selected through a non-probabilistic sampling. A content validated questionnaire and an in-deep interview were used. Higher levels of consistency were observed.
