Turning Kurt Lewin on his head: Nothing is so theoretical as a good practice

Abstract Kurt Lewin is acknowledged as the “father of social change theories” because his work has affected many models. Inspired by Lewin's massive contribution to science, this special issue of Journal of Business Research (JBR) collects papers regarding “Turning Kurt Lewin on his head: Nothing is so theoretical as a good practice.” These papers are presented in the 6th Conference of the Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy (GIKA 2016), in Valencia, Spain, from March 20 to March 23. After double blind reviews, only 75 papers are recommended to this special issue.

Qualitative analysis of housing demand using Google trends data

Big data analytics often refer to the breakdown of huge amounts of data into a more readable and useful format. This study utilises Google Trends big data as a proxy for an analysis of housing demand. We employ a qualitative method (fuzzy set/Qualitative Comparative Analysis, fsQCA), instead of a quantitative method, for our estimate and forecast. The empirical results show that fsQCA successfully forecasts seasonal time series, even though the dataset is small in size. Our findings fill the gap in the qualitative and time series forecasting literature, and the forecasting procedure herein also offers a good standard for industry.

Abstract This paper summarizes the best papers of the Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy (GIKA) conference, which took place in July 2012 in Valencia, Spain. The Journal of Business Research hereby publishes a special issue entitled Innovation and entrepreneurship in knowledge industries. This special issue includes 22 papers and the editorial. All of them went through double-blind reviews and revisions. These papers contribute to various perspectives of innovation and entrepreneurship in different countries. Innovation is considered a specific instrument of entrepreneurship. The papers in this special issue cover a variety of topics in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship.
