Subtractive imaging in confocal scanning microscopy using a CCD camera as a detector

2012

[EN] We report a scheme for the detector system of confocal microscopes in which the pinhole and a large-area detector are substituted by a CCD camera. The numerical integration of the intensities acquired by the active pixels emulates the signal passing through the pinhole. We demonstrate the imaging capability and the optical sectioning of the system. Subtractive-imaging confocal microscopy can be implemented in a simple manner, providing superresolution and improving optical sectioning. (C) 2012 Optical Society of America

Shaded-Mask Filtering for Extended Depth-of-Field Microscopy

2013

This paper proposes a new spatial filtering approach for increasing the depth-of-field (DOF) of imaging systems, which is very useful for obtaining sharp images for a wide range of axial positions of the object. Many different techniques have been reported to increase the depth of field. However the main advantage in our method is its simplicity, since we propose the use of purely absorbing beam-shaping elements, which allows a high focal depth with a minimum modification of the optical architecture. In the filter design, we have used the analogy between the axial behavior of a system with spherical aberration and the transverse impulse response of a 1D defocused system. This allowed us the…

Pancreatitis autoinmune: pseudotumor inflamatorio, afectación multifocal, hipertensión portal y evolución a largo plazo

2008

Autoimmune pancreatitis is a recently characterized disease that still constitutes a diagnostic challenge, especially regarding differential diagnosis from neoplasia. Long-term outcome is poorly known. We herein report a case of a patient with autoimmune pancreatitis and 14 years of follow-up, and show its clinical, biochemical, and morphological characteristics. A 54-year-old female presented with obstructive jaundice and abdominal tenderness, as well as a mass at the pancreatic head on a CT scan, suggestive of pancreatic neoplasia. Surgery showed an increase of the whole pancreas, malignancy was intraoperatively ruled out, and a cholecystectomy and choledochoduodenostomy were carried out.…

An approach to evaluation of sheet bending force under successive multiaxial stress condition

2009

A new bending under tension test is presented in this paper. This method tries to evaluate bending forces in sheet under successive multiaxial stress condition. This test is carried out in only one step with a pinned cylinder over a material that has been previously deformed to pure shear condition. Due to that, the bending process is made under higher back tension forces than the ones involved in the common methods previously studied in the literature. This entails high pressure values in the sheet-bending tool contact that affects the corresponding friction process. Material is strongly strengthened as a consequence of the deformation practiced in it, and as a result of that, bending forc…

Interactions between nitrogen fertilization and ozone in watermelon cultivar Reina de Corazones in open-top chambers. Effects on chlorophyll alpha fl…

2006

Watermelon (Citrillus lanants) plants were grown for two consecutive years in open-top chambers with three different ozone concentrations (O-3-free air, O-3 ambient, and air with additional O-3; CFA, NFA, and NFA+O-3) and three nitrogen fertilizer concentrations [0, 14.0, and 29.6 g N per pot; N0, N1, and N2). There was an interaction between ozone and N fertilizer for the major parameters studied. O-3 and N2 treatments led to a significant decrease in maximum efficiency of photosystem 2 (PS2) photochemistry (F-v/F-m), and induced a significant decrease in the actual quantum yield of PS2 (Phi(PS2)), due mainly to the increased closure of PS2 reaction centres (q(P)) and to an increase in the…

Diversidad liquénica asociada a fenómenos post-incendio en los alcornocales valenciano-castellonenses.

2001

FOS, S., CALATAYUD, A. & BARRENO, E. 2001. Lichen diversity associated with post-fire colonization in the Valenciano-castellonense cork-oak forests. Bot. Complutensis 25: 103113. 103 Simón Fos et al. Diversidad liquénica asociada a fenómenos post-incendio... The post-fire colonization of the burned barks of cork-oaks (Quercus suber L.) by epiphytic lichens affected by fire episodes has been studied in different areas of the Valenciano-castellonense cork-oak forests (Asplenio onopteridis-Querco suberis sigmetum). These forests, which have been affected by fires of different intensity, are located in Espadán and Calderona mountains and in the Desierto de Las Palmas and differ with respect…
