Analysis of mobile applications aimed at early childhood: technical, pedagogical, design and content characteristics

This article analyzes the technical, pedagogical, design and content characteristics of a sample of applications for children up to 5 years old, available on the Google Play platform. The study is part of an investigation titled: «Los materiales didácticos digitales en la Educación Infantil. Análisis y propuestas para su uso en la escuela y el hogar» (RTI2018-093397-B-I00) in which research teams belonging to three Autonomous Communities of the Spanish State (Islas Canarias, Galicia and Valencia) participate. A study on the didactic, content and narrative characteristics of the audiovisual products available on YouTube Kids

This article analyzes the characteristics of a selection of audiovisual products aimed at children from 0 to 4 years old, hosted on the YouTube Kids platform. On the one hand, the platform itself is analyzed; its structure, design, usability and interactivity. On the other hand, the most popular resources in each of the categories established on the platform itself are analyzed, namely: programs, music, learning and exploring. A total of 29 videos were evaluated, using an analysis tool developed ad-hoc, which is structured in the following areas of analysis: didactic, content and narrative.
