Antimony-121 Mössbauer spectra of organoantimony derivatives containing Sb-Sb bonds

1994

121-Sb Mossbauer data are reported for a number of organoantimony rings and catena-stibanes. These compounds are representative of RSb(Sb)2 and R2SbSb type of coordination, and spectral parameters are compared and discussed in relation to RSbCl2 and R2SbCl systems. Although the trend in isomer shift is similar, the present compounds show slightly less negative isomer shift values together with a remarkable reduction of the quadrupolar coupling constant. A rationalization of the quadrupolar interaction in the above series of compounds appears feasible by using point charge model calculations whose results, in terms of bonding, indicate a large contribution of p-electron density along Sb-Sb b…

COMMUNICATION. OBSERVATIONS ON THE 121-Sb MÖSSBAUER PARAMETERS OF ANTIMONY (III) COMPOUNDS FEATURING A PYRAMIDAL SbS3SKELETAL UNIT

1991

Abstract A linear correlation between the chemical isomer shift and the quadrupole coupling constant for a number of antimony tris-thiolates has been evidenced. This behaviour can be rationalized on considering a modulation of the s/p character of the lone pair of electrons from the influence of secondary bonds.

Studies on antimony trifluoride in thiocyanate salt matrices. Evidence for the formation of fluoro-thiocyanato anti-mony(III) species

1990

Abstract Antimony trifluoride can be dissolved in fused KNCS or NH4NCS giving yellow-orange solutions which are stable only for a short time just above their melting point. Infrared an Mossbauer results on solidified samples reveal the formation of mixed fluoro-thiocyanato antimony(III) species and indicate a different behaviour in the two matrices.

Synthesis, infrared and121Sb Mssbauer spectra of some Antimony(III) Thiocyanate Complexes

1989

The first isolation of an antimony(III) thiocyanate complex salt, [(CH3)4N][Sb(CNS)4] (I), and of two adducts of the Sb(CNS)3 formal unit with potentially tridentate nitrogen donors, Sb(CNS)3tpta (II) and [Sb(CNS)3]3(dqp)2 (III), is described. In these derivatives, infrared and Mossbauer spectral data are essentially indicating the predominant presence of N-bonded thiocyanate. For complex I, the occurrence also of groups bridging through the nitrogen atom is advanced. Complexes of organometallic compounds. XXXVIII. Anion Exchange Studies on the Trimethyllead (IV) Thiocyanate aqueous complex system

1974

The distribution of Me3PbIV between the anion exchange resin Dowex 1 X 8 and aqueous solutions of NaSCN and KSCN was investigated. In the aqueous phase, up to 3 M thiocyanate concentration, only the formation of the neutral species Me3PbNCS was detected and the related stability constant evaluated. Evidence of formation into the resin phase of the anionic Me3Pb(NCS) species was obtained.

Synthesis, infrared and Mssbauer characterization and X-ray crystal structure of 1,10-phenanthrolinium tetrachloromethoxy phenylantimonate(V)

1991

The compound has been characterized by X-ray crystal structure determination, Mossbauer and i.r. spectroscopy. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space groupP21/c (No. 14) witha=24.228(4),b=8.335(2),c=23.975(4) A,β=117.83(3)° andZ=8. Least-squares refinement on 3749 observed reflections gave finalR=0.034 (Rw=0.037). The compound is constituted by [(C6H5)SbCl4OMe]− anions andphenH+cations. The coordination polyhedron about Sb is an octahedron (Sb-Cl 2.416(3), Sb-O 1.962(7) and Sb-C 2.138(9) A). The whole structure is characterized by two short contacts (O(1)⋯N(2) 2.76(1) O(2)⋯N(4) 2.75(1) A) involving the methoxy oxygens of the two independent anionic units [(C6H5)SbCl4OMe]− and two nitrogens…
