El presente trabajo de tesis doctoral defiende el papel relevante que tuvo Rafael Pérez Contel como profesor de artes visuales de secundaria, introduciendo novedades importantes en las décadas de 1950, 1960 y 1970, innovaciones que le convierten en un pionero de la educación en artes. Esta tesis es también un homenaje a su figura como docente, una faceta que hasta el momento había permanecido prácticamente oculta. Si bien su actividad como artista y como personaje implicado políticamente han merecido numerosos trabajos y publicaciones, este documento académico es el primero que reivindica al Pérez Contel profesor y docente. This doctoral thesis work defends the relevant role that Rafael Pérez Contel played as a high school visual arts teacher, introducing important developments in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, innovations that make him a pioneer in arts education. This thesis is also a tribute to his figure as a teacher, a facet that until now had remained practically hidden. Although his activity as an artist and as a politically involved character have deserved numerous works and publications, this academic document is the first one that vindicates Pérez Contel professor and teacher.
