Nonlinear Dispersive Equations

2021

Nonlinear Dispersive Equations are partial differential equations that naturally arise in physical settings where dispersion dominates dissipation, notably hydrodynamics, nonlinear optics, plasma physics and Bose–Einstein condensates. The topic has traditionally been approached in different ways, from the perspective of modeling of physical phenomena, to that of the theory of partial differential equations, or as part of the theory of integrable systems. This monograph offers a thorough introduction to the topic, uniting the modeling, PDE and integrable systems approaches for the first time in book form. The presentation focuses on three "universal" families of physically relevant equations …

Sostenibilidad empresarial y estrategias de divulgación de huella de carbono

2021

Commensality in the Late Bronze Age : places and practices : the contribution of recent discoveries in the south-east of the Paris Basin

2021

This doctoral dissertation uses data from the extensive preventive archaeological research carried out in the Upper Seine Valley in the south-east of the Paris Basin for at least five decades an area where Bronze Age and Early Iron Age sites are numerous and generally well preserved. The 2005 excavation by Inrap of the Villiers-sur-Seine site "le Gros Buisson", an "unusual" settlement dating to the final phase of the Late Bronze Age (9th century B.C.) is the main focus of this study, having shed new light on domestic contexts of this pivotal period. This fortified aristocratic dwelling is characterised by an organised plan, abundant artefacts, as well as the unusual consumption of young pig…

The unique inflorescence structure of Dorema aucheri (Apiaceae): An adaptation to the arid environment

2021

Abstract Arid environments demand specific adaptations from plants in vegetative and reproductive systems. Self–compatibility, high pollen production and few well developed fruits are adapted to increase sexual reproductive success. Dorema aucheri is an arid–adapted, perennial monocarpic species endemic to southern Iran. It has a unique inflorescence structure. In this study, significance of inflorescence architecture for reproductive success was investigated in a wild population. The huge yellow inflorescences were frequently visited by manifold insects. The species is andromonoecious and spatially subdivided in a distal part with perfect flowers and a proximal part with male flowers. Flow…

Shallow and Deep Integration

2021

The concepts of shallow and deep economic integration are introduced and discussed as to their pertinence. The conflicting results of successive rounds of global trade negotiations for developing and least developed countries are examined in the context of deep integration attempts in North-South agreements. It is established as a guiding principle that North-South agreements should normally not go deeper or run faster than South-South agreements. In light of observed global trends, upcoming inter-regional trade deals will differ from current preferential North-South trade agreements, and Northern partners will be adamant that future agreements should go deep, as the chapter critically disc…

From detail to project: House Caiozzo-Facciola

2021

The analysis and understanding, through drawing, of Casa Cajozzo-Facciolà, designed by Pasquale Culotta and Giuseppe Leone, in 1979, on a cliff in Contrada Ogliastrillo in Cefalù, followed a pro- cess that is unlike the traditional process. From the consideration that the detail is thought of as a portion of a whole, which allows, through a close examination, to re-read the global system from which it was provisionally extracted, we proceeded with the analysis of the expected construction system, the balloon frame, and thanks to a close examination of the construction details of which there were sketches with explanatory notes, the proportions, spaces, volumes, surface treatment of the over…

Causes and Effects of Introducing Surgery Safety Checklist: A Review

2021

The medical treatment process, particularly surgery, is inescapably bound to potential complications or undesirable adverse events. This narrative review aims to present the causes and effects of the introduction of the WHO Surgery Safety Checklist (SSC), the use of which is expected to reduce the number of perioperative errors, complications, and mortality. To achieve this objective, we performed a bibliometric analysis of medical citations indexed in the PubMed database using the SSC subject heading. Findings revealed a total of 1441 articles meeting inclusion status, with 1171 published during the last decade. After the screening of titles and abstracts, the members of the research team …

Dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes of hydrazone phenolate ligands -syntheses and activities in catalytic oxidation reactions

2021

The new cis-dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes [MoO2(L2)(H2O)] (2) and [MoO2(L3) (H2O)] (3) containing the tridentate hydrazone-based ligands (H2L2 = N'-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-methylbenzohydrazide and H2L3 = N'-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-(hydroxyimino)propanehydrazide) have been synthesised and characterized via IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The catalytic activities of complexes 2 and 3, and the analogous known complex [MoO2(L1)(H2O)] (1) (H2L1 = N'-(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-4-methylbenzohydrazide) have been evaluated for various oxidation reactions, viz. oxygen atom transfer from dimethyl sulfoxide to triphenylp…

Nonlinear Analysis of Charge-Pump Phase-Locked Loop : The Hold-In and Pull-In Ranges

2021

In this paper a fairly complete mathematical model of CP-PLL, which reliable enough to serve as a tool for credible analysis of dynamical properties of these circuits, is studied. We refine relevant mathematical definitions of the hold-in and pull-in ranges related to the local and global stability. Stability analysis of the steady state for the charge-pump phase locked loop is non-trivial: straight-forward linearization of available CP-PLL models may lead to incorrect conclusions, because the system is not smooth near the steady state and may experience overload. In this work necessary details for local stability analysis are presented and the hold-in range is computed. An upper estimate o…
