Atlas of Soknopaiou Nesos: project of knowledge and digital preservation. The article concerns the topography research project of the city of Soknopaiou Nesos in Fayyum. In particular, the goal of the project is the realization of a digital knowledge and conservation plan of the entire archaeological site using innovative digital survey techniques and then the creation of a topographic atlas necessary for the realization of a ceramic intrasite survey of the site.

Recently, many investigations were carried out in order to check the applicability of both close-range and UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) photogrammetry to measure soil erosion processes. For measuring rill erosion occurring on a 22 m long and 26% sloped plot occurred on 24 October 2016 at the Sparacia experimental area, a terrestrial photographic relief and a low altitude aerial relief were carried out by no-professional quadricopter and camera. The paper aims to present through case studies the history of the titles of some writings belonging to the Hippocratic Corpus with particular regard to their translations into ancient and modern languages. This investigation is of some relevance in order to understand the historical conditions under which Hippocratic treatises were transmitted. In this connection, a relation can be shown between the translated titles of the writings considered on the one side (among them in the first instance de genitura/de natura pueri and de aeribus) and on the other side the ways in which their contents have been transmitted through scientific language in the various historical contexts.

Catherine Jagiellon (1526–83), was a Catholic Polish-Lithuanian princess married to a Lutheran Swedish Prince, John Vasa, Duke of Finland and later King of Sweden. Her case provides important insights into the impact of confessional differences within a royal marriage of the sixteenth century and their consequences for counsel. The chapter highlights the significance of Catherine’s network of confidants, and the role of her entourage in providing political support. While she was not always a successful counsellor, evidence from her correspondence demonstrates that she was a careful manager of her self-presentation in a range of delicate situations.

The duality of ocean acidification as a resource and a stressor

Ecologically dominant species often define ecosystem states, but as human disturbances intensify, their subordinate counterparts increasingly displace them. We consider the duality of disturbance by examining how environmental drivers can simultaneously act as a stressor to dominant species and as a resource to subordinates. Using a model ecosystem, we demonstrate that CO2-driven interactions between species can account for such reversals in dominance; i.e., the displacement of dominants (kelp forests) by subordinates (turf algae). We established that CO2 enrichment had a direct positive effect on productivity of turfs, but a negligible effect on kelp. CO2 enrichment further suppressed the …
