Paplašināta spektra β-laktamāzes kodējošo gēnu noteikšana Escherichia coli kultūrās, kas izolētas no mājas cūkām
2017
Darba mērķis bija izpētīt Pārtikas drošības, dzīvnieku veselības un vides zinātniskajā institūtā „BIOR” izolētas Escherichia coli kultūras, nosakot TEM, OXA, SHV, CTX-M I, CTX-M II, CTX-M IV, CMY II un DHA tipa β-laktamāzes gēnu klātbūtni baktēriju kultūru paraugos. Bakalaura darbs izstrādāts 2017. gadā zinātniskā institūta “BIOR” Dzīvnieku slimību diagnostikas laboratorijas Mikrobioloģijas nodaļā un Molekulārās bioloģijas nodaļā. Pētāmie paraugi (Escherichia coli kultūras) bija iegūti no mājas cūku (Sus scrofa domestica) aklo zarnu paraugiem 2016. un 2017. gada VPP “AgroBioRes” ietvaros. Kopā tika analizēti 68 Escherichia coli kultūru paraugi no dažādām saimniecībām. β-lactamāzeskodējošo g…
The Erythrocytic Hypothesis of Brain Energy Crisis in Sporadic Alzheimer Disease: Possible Consequences and Supporting Evidence
2020
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a fatal form of dementia of unknown etiology. Although amyloid plaque accumulation in the brain has been the subject of intensive research in disease pathogenesis and anti-amyloid drug development; the continued failures of the clinical trials suggest that amyloids are not a key cause of AD and new approaches to AD investigation and treatment are needed. We propose a new hypothesis of AD development based on metabolic abnormalities in circulating red blood cells (RBCs) that slow down oxygen release from RBCs into brain tissue which in turn leads to hypoxia-induced brain energy crisis; loss of neurons; and progressive atrophy preceding cognitive dysfunction. This …
Cytokine Polymorphism in Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy
2014

Novo1 1University of Palermo, Palermo, Italy Background: Takotsubo (TT) cardiomyopathy is characterised by an acute left ventricular dysfunction triggered by emotional or physical stresses. Clinically, the syndrome is characterised by acute symptoms mimicking acute infarction without relevant electrocardiographic and biochemical markers of myocardial damage changes. Stressful events inducing an excess catecholamine release and myocardial β-adrenergic receptors (β-AR) seem to play a major role in TT. Ac…

Analysis of β2-agonists in cattle hair samples using a rapid UHPLC–ESI–MS/MS method
2016
A simple and efficient method was developed for simultaneous analysis of five illegal residual β2-agonists in cattle hair. β2-Agonists were quantified by ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionisation tandem mass spectrometry operating in positive multiple-reaction monitoring mode. The method was validated as quantitative confirmatory method according to the EU Decision 2002/657/EC: instrumental linearity, specificity, precision, recovery, decision limit (CCα) and detection capability (CCβ) were evaluated. The recovery were greater than 90% and the method appeared suitable for the control of these β2-agonists in cattle hair samples with LOQ values between …

2022
Maģistra darba literatūras apskata daļā apkopota informācija par β-adrenerģiskajiem receptoriem, to bioloģisko lomu, uzbūvi.
Effects of a structured educational intervention in moderate-to-severe elderly asthmatic subjects.
2019
Background: Adherence to inhaled drugs is linked to patients’ satisfaction with their device, and an incorrect use can negatively affect the outcomes of asthma treatment. We speculated that this is particularly true in elderly asthmatic subjects. Aim: We performed a national pre-post interventional multicentre study, enrolling moderate-to-severe asthmatic subjects aged ≥65 years treated with fixed inhaled combination drugs by dry powder inhaler (DPI) or pressurized metered dose inhaler (pMDI). Adherence and critical errors were evaluated by means of validated questionnaires at first visit (V1) and after 3–6 months (V2). At V1, subjects underwent intensive training on the correct use of the…
Screening of Hanseniaspora Strains for the Production of Enzymes with Potential Interest for Winemaking
2015
Some non-Saccharomyces yeasts, including Hanseniaspora, participate in the first stages of wine fermentation. Besides their importance in the wine production process some of these yeasts have been described to be potential producers of hydrolytic enzymes to industrial level. In this work, we pretend to evaluate the technological abilities of the Hanseniaspora strains deposited in the Spanish Type Culture Collection (CECT). First of all, we considered verification of the correct identification of the strains using several miniaturized biochemical systems and molecular techniques (PCR, RFLP and sequencing of the ribosomal D1/D2 region). The results allowed us to verify the correct adscription…
DIAGSOL : development of a new functional marker of exposure to herbicides B-triketones in an agricultural soil
2020
Numerous herbicides target an enzyme found not only in weeds but also in « non-target organisms » such as microorganisms. This proof-of-concept study aims to use microbial gene encoding the targeted enzyme or the targeted enzyme itself as a marker for herbicide exposure in soils. The hppd gene and the encoded enzyme (HPPD; 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase), targeted by B-triketone herbicides, are the subject of this study. In silico analyses reveal that the hppd gene is spread out in all bacterial phyla. Primers specific to this gene were designed. This primer pair is used to measure the abundance, the composition and the diversity of the hppd bacterial community in soil microcosms expos…
Photocrosslinking of dextran and polyaspartamide derivatives: a combination suitable for colon-specific drug delivery.
2007
Abstract The aim of this study was to prepare and characterize novel hydrogels with polysaccharide–polyaminoacid structure, able to undergo an enzymatic hydrolysis in the colon and potentially useful for treating inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Starting materials were methacrylated dextran (DEX-MA) and methacrylated α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)- dl -aspartamide (PHM). These polymers were photocrosslinked by exposure of their aqueous solutions at 313 nm without photoinitiators. Different samples, shaped as microparticles, were obtained as a function of polymer concentration and irradiation time. FT-IR analysis confirmed the occurrence of a co-crosslinking between DEX-MA and PHM in all exper…
