Background: The lifetime risk of stroke has been calculated in a limited number of selected populations. We sought to estimate the lifetime risk of stroke at the regional, country, and global level using data from a comprehensive study of the prevalence of major diseases.Methods: We used the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study 2016 estimates of stroke incidence and the competing risks of death from any cause other than stroke to calculate the cumulative lifetime risks of first stroke, ischemic stroke, or hemorrhagic stroke among adults 25 years of age or older. The article explores the question of "chance" in the European Union Law in the field of the admission of third States citizens and asylum seekers to the territory of the European Union. Le hasard fait son apparition dans le droit de l'Union européenne en matière de d'accès au territoire de l'Union pour les ressortissants des pays tiers, meme pour les demandeurs d'asile ou pour les personnes en besoin de protection. Dans ce contexte, le hasard perd les caractères habituels qui lui sont reconnus par les Etats membres de l'Union pour devenir un instrument de dissuasion au service de la priorité politique de reduire les mouvements migratoires.

The present paper reports on the results of our participation to the depression sub-challenge of the sixth Audio/Visual Emotion Challenge (AVEC 2016), which was designed to compare feature modalities ( audio, visual, interview transcript-based) in gender-based and gender-independent modes using a variety of classification algorithms. Stolen innocence? Observance of the EU Directive on presumption of innocence by Spanish crime reporting

This paper examines the compliance of Spanish crime reporting with the principles of the 2016 EU Directive on presumption of innocence, which aims at preventing the publication of information that might bias the public and the jurors against the suspect. A content analysis applied to a sample of 200 crime news stories published by eleven of the most popular print and online news platforms in 2018 reveals that the Spanish press coverage of crime is centered around the pre-trial and sentence stages, with little attention to the oral trial.
