Statistical atlas based exudate segmentation

International audience; Diabetic macular edema (DME) is characterized by hard exudates. In this article, we propose a novel statistical atlas based method for segmentation of such exudates. Any test fundus image is first warped on the atlas co-ordinate and then a distance map is obtained with the mean atlas image. This leaves behind the candidate lesions. Post-processing schemes are introduced for final segmentation of the exudate. Experiments with the publicly available HEI-MED data-set shows good performance of the method. The approach described here is based both on 3D modelling by photogrammetry at different resolutions, and on suitably processed digital elevation models (DEMs). Latvijas Universitātes Muzeja Frīdriha Candera un Latvijas astronomijas kolekcijā glabājas bagātīga 18., 19. un 20. gadsimta zvaigžņu atlantu kolekcija, kas uzskatāmi ataino zvaigžņotās debess kartēšanas vēsturi. Vecākajam no atlantiem ir gandrīz 300 gadu. Divdesmit zvaigžņu atlanti, kas tapuši līdz 1940. gadam, tagad pieejami apskatei Muzeja virtuālajā izstādē „Zemes mīti debesīs”.

Streptococcus pneumoniae sortāzes A inhibitoru atlase multirezistentu patogēnu izraisīto infekcijas slimību terapijai

Darba mērķis ir atrast jaunas novatoriskas vielas, kas inhibē Grampozitīvās baktērijas Streptococcus pneumoniae transpeptidāzi sortāzi A. Šo inhibitoru atlasei tika izmantota rekombinanta S.pneumoniae sortāzes A katalītisko domēnu kodējoša konstrukcija bez N terminālā reģiona. Šāda rekombinanta transpeptidāze tika ekspresēta E.coli ekspresijas sistēmā un sintezētais proteīns izrādījās šķīstošs. Pēc attīrīšanas sortāze tika izmantota inhibitoru atlasei, izmantojot skrīningu, kas balstās uz fluorescences rezonanses enerģijas pārnesi (FRET). Pavisam tika pārbaudīti 966 potenciāli inhibitori savienojumi, no kuriem tālākām pārbaudēm tika atlasīti trīs labākie, kuri inhibēja IC50 testā izmantotās…

Measurements of the top quark branching ratios into channels with leptons and quarks with the ATLAS detector

2015

Measurements of the branching ratios of top quark decays into leptons and jets using events with t[bar over t] (top antitop) pairs are reported. Events were recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The collected data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.6  fb[superscript −1]. The measured top quark branching ratios agree with the Standard Model predictions within the measurement uncertainties of a few percent.
