The influence of counterions and hydrophobic moieties on the thermostability of Langmuir-Blodgett multilayers

1994

Abstract Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) multilayers with various counterions and different organic moieties (one- and two-chain fatty acids, polymeric acid) are prepared to investigate on line temperature-dependent structural changes and desorption by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), interference-enhanced reflection and Nomarsky microscopy. On temperature increase a sequence of phase transitions can be observed. A crystalline LB film melts to a fluid phase and eventually desorbs either from droplets or from a homogeneous film. The phase sequence depends on the counterion: nickel stearate and magnesium stearate melt while the layered structure is conserved; SAXS measurements reveal a continuous,…

The cyclic [N(PiPr2E)2]+ (E = Se, Te) cations: a new class of inorganic ring system.

2006

The two-electron oxidation of [(tmeda)NaN(PiPr2E)2] with iodine produces the cyclic [N(PiPr2E)2]+ (E = Se, Te) cations, which exhibit long E–E bonds in the iodide salts. peerReviewed

Radical cation salts based on BEDT-TTF and the paramagnetic anion [Cr(NCS)6]3−

1999

Abstract A new radical cation salt formulated as (ET)5.5[Cr(NCS)6] (ET = BEDT-TTF = bis(ethylene)dithiotetrathiafulvalene) has been synthesised and characterised by X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The structure shows the presence of alternating layers of the ET units and mixed layers of anions and an isolated ET molecule. The magnetic susceptibility data in the temperature range 2–300 K show a Curie law with C = 1.771 cm3.K.mol−1 and Nα = 1.20.10−5 cm3.mol−1, in agreement with the presence of isolated Cr(III) without any contribution from the organic part.

Mono and dinuclear copper(II) complexes of 2,4,6-tris(2-pyridyl)-1, 3,5-triazine and halide or pseudohalide ions: Synthesis and spectral studies

1986

By inhibiting the copper(II) assisted TPT (TPT = 2,4,6-tris(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine) hydrolysis, monomeric and dimeric copper(II) complexes having as general formulae Cu(TPT)X, · nH2O (X = Cl, Br, NCS, NCO or N3) and [Cu(TPT)X]2(PF6)2 · nH2O (X = Cl, Br, NCS or N3) have been synthesized and characterized by i.r., electronic and e.p.r. spectra, x-ray powder diffraction and analytical data. Spectroscopic results indicate five-coordinate geometry around the copper(II) ion, intermediate between trigonal-bipyramid and square-pyramid structures. The half-field absorption in the ΔMS = 2 region of powdered X-band e.p.r. spectra has been observed for the dimeric species.

Sterically controlled self-assembly of tetrahedral M(6)L(4) cages via cationic N-donor ligands.

2014

Tripodal cationic N-donor ligands exhibit sterically controlled self-assembly of tetrahedral M6L4 coordination cages that promote selective anion encapsulation (PF6(-)OTf(-)) in the solid state. The described method is a potential template for stepwise assembly of hetero-ligand coordination cages and polymers.

Crystal structure and electronic properties of bis(mepirizole) copper(II) perchlorate. Correlation between the electronic spectrum and CuN4 chromopho…

1985

The crystal structure of the title compound has been determined from single-crystal x-ray diffraction data. The crystals are tetragonal, space group P42212, withz=2 in a unit cell of dimensionsa=b=9.575(2),c=16.135(5) A. The structure was solved by the usual Patterson and Fourier techniques, and was refined by least-squares analysis to an R value of 0.057 for 545 observed reflexions. Two mepirizole molecules are arranged in a flattened tetrahedral manner (average Cu-N, 1.974 A) around Cu, and coordinated through N atoms. The dihedral angle between N-Cu-N planes of the two ligands is 53.6+°. This geometry seems to result from steric interaction between the ligands. The e.s.r. spectrum is axi…

A clickable NHC–Au(i)-complex for the preparation of stimulus-responsive metallopeptide amphiphiles

2018

We report the synthesis of an alkyne functionalised NHC-Au(i)-complex which is conjugated with amphiphilic oligopeptides using a copper(i) catalysed cycloaddition. The resulting Au(i)-metalloamphiphiles are shown to self-assemble into charge-regulated stimulus-responsive supramolecular polymers in water via a weakly cooperative polymerisation mechanism.
