The text deals with the fragmentary issue of Piotr Skarga’s iconography which is the artistic legacy of the anniversaries celebrated in 1912 and 2012. The remembrance of this Jesuit’s death one hundred years ago stirred up many emotions. It was visible in, for instance, mass manifestations, books, theatre performances or the creations of fine arts. In the reality of the beginnings of the 20th century, what was important was the impact of the image created by Jan Matejko as well as its ideological, virtually mystical, background. The reason for a project that was never performed: Alvar Aalto and the residential complex in Pavia (1966-68)

This paper aims to analyze the characteristics of the project for the residential complex "Patrizia" in Pavia by Alvar Aalto (1966-1968). Although not realized, for political and economic reasons, the project offers an interesting example of urban planning in an “organic key”. In particular, this paper aims to contextualize the project of Aalto in the broader context of the residential building in Italy after World War II, when the problems of reconstruction and "home" are the heart of the debate on architecture. The commemorations of Dante Alighieri ‘s 700th death anniversary saw in 2021 a ‘national’ and even a ‘nationalist ‘ Dante cropping up once again in the Italian public discourse. This article summarises the history of the public and political uses of the poet of the Divina Commedia: from the end of the 18th century, when his modern cult was born, to the Risorgimento, from the First World War to Fascism, up to the more recent ‘pop’ Dante.

Study of vacancy defects in PbSe and Pb1-xSnxSe by positron annihilation

Abstract Positron lifetime measurements have been performed to study vacancy defects in vapour-liquid-solid (VLS) grown PbSe and Pb 1- x Sn x Se ( x = 0.07, 0.1, 0.3). Post-growth annealing under various vapour pressure conditions has been used to change the number of Pb vacancies, resulting in the determination of the specific positron trapping rate μ Pb v = (1.0±0.1)×10 14 s -1 . The sensitivity range of the positron annihilation method to the Pb vacancies was found to be 10 17 Pb ] 20 cm -3 . Positron lifetimes in perfect PbTe, PbSe and PbS crystals have been calculated. Searches for B0 decays to combinations of charmless isoscalar mesons

We search for B meson decays into two-body combinations of eta, eta', omega, and phi mesons from 89 million B B-bar pairs collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC. We find the branching fraction BF(B0 -> eta omega) = (4.0^{+1.3}_{-1.2} +- 0.4) x 10^-6 with a significance of 4.3 sigma. For all the other decay modes we set the following 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions, in units of 10^-6 : BF(B0 -> eta eta)<2.8, BF(B0 -> eta eta')<4.6, BF(B0 -> eta' eta')<10, BF(B0 -> eta'omega)<2.8, BF(B0 -> eta phi)<1.0, BF(B0 -> eta' phi)<4.5, BF(B0 -> phi phi)<1.5.
Search for the Lepton Flavor Violation Process J/ψ→eμ at BESIII

We search for the lepton-flavor-violating decay of the $J/\psi$ into an electron and a muon using $(225.3\pm2.8)\times 10^{6}$ $J/\psi$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. Four candidate events are found in the signal region, consistent with background expectations. An upper limit on the branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}(J/\psi \to e\mu)< 1.5 \times 10^{-7}$ (90% C.L.) is obtained.
Triplet–Triplet Annihilation Upconversion in a MOF with Acceptor‐Filled Channels

Abstract Photon upconversion has enjoyed increased interest in the last years due to its high potential for solar‐energy harvesting and bioimaging. A challenge for triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA‐UC) processes is to realize these features in solid materials without undesired phase segregation and detrimental dye aggregation. To achieve this, we combine a palladium porphyrin sensitizer and a 9,10‐diphenylanthracene annihilator within a crystalline mesoporous metal–organic framework using an inverted design. Evidence of Two Resonant Structures in e+e−→π+π−hc

The cross sections of e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) hc at center-of-mass energies from 3.896 to 4.600 GeVare measured using data samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The cross sections are found to be of the same order of magnitude as those of e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) J/psi and e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) psi (2S), but the line shape is inconsistent with the Y states observed in the latter two modes. Two structures are observed in the e(+)e(-) -> pi(+) pi(-) hc cross sections around 4.22 and 4.39 GeV/c(2), which we call Y(4220)and Y(4390), respectively. A fit with a coherent sum of two Breit-Wigner functions results in a mass of (4218.4(- 4.5)…
