INTRACRANICAL HEMANGIOPERICYTOMA: CASE REPORT AND REVIEW OF LITERATURE
2013
PURPOSE: We present a case of intracranical hemangiopericytoma (HPC) in a patient with migraine (male, 49 years old), who also presented mental confusion and partial left sensorimotor syndrome. We will also provide some elements regarding the international classification of this rare and highly vascularized mesenchymal tumor, and will consider possible differential diagnosis with other more common extra-axial masses. METHODS: After a preliminary examination in ER, patient underwent to head CT examination and was then transferred to the neurosurgical unit. The day after a brain MR examination was performed using advanced techniques too (PWI, and MRS); before surgery also functional MR imagin…
On the location of the supermassive black hole in CTA102
2015
Relativistic jets in active galactic nuclei represent one of the most powerful phenomena in the Universe. They form in the surroundings of the supermassive black holes as a by-product of accretion onto the central black hole in active galaxies. The flow in the jets propagates at velocities close to the speed of light. The distance between the first part of the jet that is visible in radio images (core) and the black hole is still a matter of debate. Only very-long-baseline interferometry observations resolve the innermost compact regions of the radio jet. Those can access the jet base, and combining data at different wavelenghts, address the physical parameters of the outflow from its emiss…
The role of 18F-FDG PET/CT in early infectious discitis: a case report after a negative MRI
2019
We present the case of a 70 years old woman with infectious discitis which was detected using Fluorine fluodeoxiglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT), after a negative magnetic resonance imaging. A Streptococuss gallolyticus (bovis gender bacteria) grow on culture. In addition 18F-FDG PET also demonstrated infectious endocarditis which was confirmed by transesophageal echocardiography and a colonic neoplasm. Here we have highlighted the potential role of 18F-FDG PET/CT study in patients with a clinical history suggestive of infectious discitis with a negative or indifferent magnetic resonance imaging. Keywords: 18F-FDG PET/TC, Spondylodiscitis, Pyogenic v…
Interactive case discussion

Incidental lesions are frequently discovered during routine radiographic evaluations. Correlation with clinical history and additional confirmatory imaging is essential to the development of an accurate, focused differential diagnosis and for appropriate management. The objective of this presentation is to describe the imaging findings associated with incidentally found liver lesions and to review those clinical and radiologic features, which should be considered in development of an ordered and accurate differential diagnosis. Learning Objectives: 1. To introduce typical cases illustrating the role of imaging modalities in the differential diagnosis of unexpected liver lesion cases. 2. To …

Focal confluent fibrosis in cirrhotic liver: natural history studied with serial CT.
2009
OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to assess the long-term natural history of focal confluent fibrosis in cirrhotic liver with CT. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two radiologists retrospectively reviewed in consensus 118 liver CT examinations in 26 patients (19 men, seven women; age range, 32-68 years; mean age, 50 years) performed over approximately 6 years. Helical CT scans were obtained before and 30-35 and 65-70 seconds after injection of 125-150 mL of contrast medium at a rate of 4-5 mL/s. Proof of cirrhosis was based on liver transplantation (n = 6), biopsy (n = 9), or imaging findings (n = 11). The number, location, and attenuation of fibrotic lesions and presence of trapped vessels …
