ChemInform Abstract: Total Synthesis of (-)-Hymenosetin.
2016
Hymenosetin (I) and its N-methyl analogue are prepared in 11 and 8 steps, respectively, from citronellal employing an intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction as the key step.
ChemInform Abstract: Modular One-Pot Synthesis of Tetrasubstituted Pyrroles from α-(Alkylideneamino)nitriles.
2008
2,3,4,5-Tetrasubstituted pyrroles have been prepared with high regioselectivity by a formal cycloaddition of α-(alkylideneamino)nitriles and nitroolefins followed by elimination of HCN and HNO2. The reaction allows the convergent construction of the pyrrole ring in four steps from a nitroalkane and three aldehydes.
Design of guanidinium porphyrins as potential G-quadruplex ligands
2012
We report herein an easy and smooth synthesis of two novel tetra-meso-substituted porphyrins bearing terminal guanidinium functionalities. These two guanidine derivatives are the porphyrin-based analogs of ZnPC , a closely related phthalocyanine-based molecule with four guanidinium arms already reported as an efficient G-quadruplex ligand.
The reaction of amino-imidazoles, -pyrazoles and -triazoles with α,β-unsaturated nitriles
2005
The reactions of α,β-unsaturated nitriles (1, 9, 12) as bielectrophiles with aminoazoles (2, 4, 6) as binu-cleophiles were investigated. Acrylonitrile (1) reacts almost exclusively in a chemoselective Michael-type addition yielding the substituted azoles 3, 5 and 7, respectively. Cinnamonitriles 9a,b behave in a similar way, but the free CN group adds a second molecule 4 yielding 10a,b and its cyclocondensation product 11a,b as minor component. The attempted formation of azolopyrimidines is best achieved by the reaction of the benzylidenemalononitriles 12a - f with 2 or 4. The process is chemo- and regioselective. The structure determinations were based on NMR measurements including DEFT, C…
ChemInform Abstract: 1,2,4-Oxadiazole Rearrangements Involving an NNC Side-Chain Sequence.
2010
The thermal rearrangement of N-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl-hydrazones into 1,2,4-triazole derivatives is reported. This represents the first example of a three-atom side-chain rearrangement involving an NNC sequence linked at the C(3) of the oxadiazole. The reactions carried out under solvent-free conditions produced good to high yields of the final products.
ChemInform Abstract: Facile Synthesis of Pyrazoles and Pyrroles via Thermolysis of Tetrazolo[1,5-b]pyridazines, Tetrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines and Tetra…
2010
Abstract A simple and high yielding preparation of pyrazoles and pyrroles is described. Thermolysis of tetrazolo[1,5- b ]pyridazines, tetrazolo[1,5- a ]pyrimidines and tetrazolo[1,5- a ]pyridines allowed easy ring contraction thus providing a facile preparation of cyanopyrazole and cyanopyrrole heterocycles. Since the cyano group is a versatile precursor of other functionalities, the reaction appears of particular interest for the construction of a variety of pyrazoles and pyrroles. The simple preparation of the starting tetrazole derivatives, the relatively mild conditions employed, and the very short reaction times make this versatile procedure of great synthetic utility and applicable bo…
Cytoprotective effects of the antioxidant phytochemical indicaxanthin in beta-thalassemia red blood cells
2006
Antioxidant phytochemicals are investigated as novel treatments for supportive therapy in beta-thalassemia. The dietary indicaxanthin was assessed for its protective effects on human beta-thalassemic RBCs submitted in vitro to oxidative haemolysis by cumene hydroperoxide. Indicaxanthin at 1.0-10 microM enhanced the resistance to haemolysis dose-dependently. In addition, it prevented lipid and haemoglobin (Hb) oxidation, and retarded vitamin E and GSH depletion. After ex vivo spiking of blood from thalassemia patients with indicaxanthin, the phytochemical was recovered in the soluble cell compartment of the RBCs. A spectrophotometric study showed that indicaxanthin can reduce perferryl-Hb ge…
Credit derivatives e catena del valore del rischio di credito: le determinanti delle scelte di de-integrazione.
2013
This paper analyses the drivers of the credit risk transfer market in the credit risk value chain. The central line of my research is to explain why the credit derivatives market is a case of credit risk value chain disintegration. I examine the determinants that explain the use of credit derivatives by banks in the lending business. Transaction cost economics represents the starting point of my research. Competitive advantages of banking firms, standardization of information and financial instruments, financial regulation and shareholder value view help us understand the creation of credit risk transfer markets.
Cross-coupling reactions of organoborons with organic halides

The first copper(I)-olefin complexes bearing a 1,3,4-oxadiazole core: Alternating-current electrochemical crystallization, X-ray experiment and DFT s…
2017
By means of alternating-current electrochemical technique, four new π-complexes, namely [Cu2(C11H10N2OS)2Br1.91Cl0.09] (1), [Cu(C11H10N2OS)NO3] (2), [Cu2(C11H10N2OS)2(H2O)2](BF4)2 (3) and [Cu2(C11H10N2OS)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (4), were obtained using copper(II) salts and the 2-(allylthio)-5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole (C11H10N2OS) ligand. The metal and halogen centers in 1 form Cu2X2 dimers; the N-atom from the oxadiazole ring and the Cdouble bond; length as m-dashC bond of the allyl group from the same ligand complete the copper coordination environment, giving [Cu(C11H10N2OS)X]2 isolated fragments. The ligand plays the same chelating role in 2, whereas the O (NO3) atom occupies the third position i…
