Ar veselību saistītas metaforas rakstos par ekonomiskiem jautājumiem

Konceptuālo metaforu teorija izsaka iespējamību par universālu metaforu eksistenci dažādās valodās. Bakalaura darba mērķis bija identificēt veselības metaforas rakstos par ekonomikas jautājumiem angļu un latviešu valodā un noskaidrot kā tās konceptualizē ar ekonomiku saistītas problēmas. Pētījums ir balstīts uz konceptuālās metaforu teorijas. Metaforu identifikācijai kontekstā tika izmantota deduktīvā metode un izpētīja tās no kvalitatīvās un kvantitatīvās perspektīvas. Tika atklāts, ka visbiežāk sastopamākās veselības metaforas bija problēma ir slimība/traucējumi un uzlabojums ir ārstēšana/atveseļošanās ar metaforiskajām izpausmēm ‘vājums’ un ‘atveseļošanās’. Šī pētījuma mērķis bija analizēt metaforu veidus, kas ir izmantoti mārketinga blogos, noteikt to izmantošanas mērķi mārketinga blogu ierakstos un noteikt avota un mērķa domēnus, kurus var atrast identificētajās metaforās. Pētījuma metode bija diskursa analīze. Rezultāti liecina, ka visplašāk izmantotais metaforu veids blogu ierakstos ir konceptuālās metaforas; kam seko “tradicionālās” metaforas, taču tās izmanto retāk. Mērķa domēni, kas tiek skaidroti, izmantojot metaforas, ir saistīti ar mārketinga terminoloģiju; avotu domēni, kas visplašāk tiek izmantoti paskaidrojumam ir daba, dzīvnieku/cilvēku uzvedība un ceļojums. The study was a replication of DeGenova’s (1992) study, aiming at identifying what elderly people would do differently if they had their life to live over. The Ss were 174 retired women (56%) and men (44%) born in 1927 or 1929, residing in urban areas. The subjects completed a questionnaire, Life Revision Index (LRI), developed by DeGenova (1992), assessing life revision in the areas of friends, family, work, education, leisure, religion, and health. The results show that education and leisure enjoyment are the areas with the greatest amount of desired change. We tested a series of discriminant associations, investigating how dimensions of patriotism (i.e. blind and constructive) differently relate to value orientations, and to ideological attitudes such as Right-Wing Authoritarianism (RWA) and Social Dominance Orientation (SDO). Using an Italian student sample (N = 146) we found that blind patriotism correlated positively with tradition and negatively with universalism, whilst constructive patriotism correlated negatively with tradition and positively with universalism. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is known to be required for the action of antidepressant therapies but its impact on brain synaptic function is poorly characterized. Using a combination of electrophysiological, single-molecule imaging and conditional transgenic approaches, we identified the molecular basis of the VEGF effect on synaptic transmission and plasticity. VEGF increases the postsynaptic responses mediated by the N-methyl-D-aspartate type of glutamate receptors (GluNRs) in hippocampal neurons. Fibronectin (FN) is a major component of the extracellular matrix and functions in cell adhesion, cell spreading and cell migration. In the retina, FN is transiently expressed and assembled on astrocytes (ACs), which guide sprouting tip cells and deposit a provisional matrix for sprouting angiogenesis. The precise function of FN in retinal angiogenesis is largely unknown. Using genetic tools, we show that astrocytes are the major source of cellular FN during angiogenesis in the mouse retina.
