Development and validation of a micellar liquid chromatographic method to determine three antitumorals in plasma
2017
Aim: A micellar liquid chromatographic method to determine several anticancer drugs (pazopanib, dabrafenib and regorafenib) in plasma was developed and validated by the guidelines of the EMA. Experimental: Plasma samples were directly injected, after a 1/5-dilution in a micellar solution. The drugs were resolved in <18 min using a C18 column. The mobile phase was an aqueous solution of 0.12 M SDS – 2% 1-pentanol, buffered at pH 7. The detection was performed by absorbance at 260 nm. Results: The values of the main validation parameters were: LOD (0.1–1 mg/l), calibration range (0.2–2 to 80 mg/l), accuracy (-12.5 to +11.7%) and precision (<11.9%). Conclusion: The procedure was conduct…
In situ generation of Co(II) by use of a solid-phase reactor in an FIA assembly for the spectrophotometric determination of penicillamine
2005
[EN] A flow injection analysis (FIA) manifold for the determination of penicillamine in pharmaceutical preparations is proposed. The manifold includes a solid-phase reactor for the in situ production of the derivatizing reagent, Co(II) ion, which forms a coloured complex with penicillamine in an alkaline medium. The reactor is prepared by natural immobilization of cobalt carbonate on a polymer matrix, which endows it with a high mechanical and microbiological stability. The cobalt released by passage of a 5 x 10(-4) Mol l(-1) sulphuric acid stream at a flow-rate of 2.3 ml min(-1) is merged with a volume of 314 mu l of sample containing penicillamine in ammonium-ammonia buffer at pH 9.5 to m…
4-Manifold topology I: Subexponential groups
1995
The technical lemma underlying the 5-dimensional topological s-cobordism conjecture and the 4-dimensional topological surgery conjecture is a purely smooth category statement about locating ~-null immersions of disks. These conjectures are theorems precisely for those fundamental groups ("good groups") where the ~l-null disk lemma (NDL) holds. We expand the class of known good groups to all groups of subexponential growth and those that can be formed from these by a finite number of application of two opera- tions: (1) extension and (2) direct limit. The finitely generated groups in this class are amenable and no amenable group is known to lie outside this class.
Comment on: A critical analysis of the internal logic in the Life-Space Assessment (LSA) composite score and suggested solutions
2016
Background:An individual’s ability to live independently is commonly measured in health research interested in identifying risk factors associated with disablement processes. In order to inform clinical practice, population research has attempted to identify the contraction of “lived-space” by using various survey instruments.Problem:Studies assessing habitual movements over the environment with the Life-Space Assessment (LSA) survey instrument should carefully consider how the LSA Composite Score (LSA-CS) is computed. Until now, no publication has carefully delineated the assumptions guiding the internal logic used in the computation of the LSA-CS.Core argument:Because the internal logic o…
A mixed finite element method for the heat flow problem
1981
A semidiscrete finite element scheme for the approximation of the spatial temperature change field is presented. The method yields a better order of convergence than the conventional use of linear elements.

Theoretical Foundations of the Monte Carlo Method and Its Applications in Statistical Physics
2002
In this chapter we first introduce the basic concepts of Monte Carlo sampling, give some details on how Monte Carlo programs need to be organized, and then proceed to the interpretation and analysis of Monte Carlo results.
Weakly Interacting Bose-Einstein Condensates under Rotation: Mean-Field versus Exact Solutions
2000
We consider a weakly-interacting, harmonically-trapped Bose-Einstein condensed gas under rotation and investigate the connection between the energies obtained from mean-field calculations and from exact diagonalizations in a subspace of degenerate states. From the latter we derive an approximation scheme valid in the thermodynamic limit of many particles. Mean-field results are shown to emerge as the correct leading-order approximation to exact calculations in the same subspace.
