Sicily (Italy) is one of the richest European regions in animal biodiversity. Butterflies offer good opportunities for studies on biodiversity , population and community ecology. Many species are strictly seasonal, preferring only a particular set of habitats. Five typical Mediterranean habitats: olive grove (conducted following organic farm management), mixed wood, ampelodesmos prairie (with dominance of Ampelodesmos mauritanicus), Mediterranean shrub and shrub at the coastal areas, were monitored for diversity and seasonal patterns in butterfly communities for 2 years. Giovanni Maurigi (1823-1881) was a very well known Sicilian jurist. Student of philosopher Emerico Amari, his maestro's intellectual stimulus led him to contribute to the 1848 risings in Palermo. He was a well known laywer during the Borbonic regime, who defended patriots persecuted by the government. After Italian unification he became a judge. A liberal, his own professional career can be interpreted as an example of Sicilian elite recruiting in the new unified state.

In his 1895 adaptation of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata prepared for the Kraków Theatre, Stanisław Koźmian, wishing to avoid stage ‘archaeologism,’ based the text on the contemporary adaptation by Charles Maurice Don- nay, to which he added several scenes taken from the Greek original. The ambitious plan to translate a theatrical experience from over two thousand years ago into the language of modern communication was achieved by introducing contemporary political allusions. Nowadays sustainability is one of the main concept in building construction, both considering energy saving buildings and life cycle assessment of building materials. According to these considerations, in this work the use of recycled and waste materials to produce a binder and the use of a natural fiber as reinforcement are investigated to obtain a sustainable mortar.
