Introducción: La adquisición y transmisión de resistencia amenaza el éxito del tratamiento antirretroviral. En este estudio evaluamos el comportamiento epidemiológico de las mutaciones de resistencia (MR) a fármacos antirretrovirales del VIH-1 según factores de riesgo y clínicos específicos. Resumen Objetivo Al principio de conocerse la infeccion por el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH), la causa mas importante de su transmision en las mujeres occidentales fue el consumo de drogas por via parenteral. El objetivo de nuestro trabajo consistio en describir las principales caracteristicas sociales y clinicas de un grupo de madres seropositivas, y en analizar su relacion potencial con el uso intravenoso de drogas. Correction of the unfavourable effects of vasopressin by nitroglycerin infusion

Nitroglycerin was administered with vasopressin to prevent adverse effects. Vasopressin 0.25U . 70 kg-1 min-1 was infused intravenously in four dogs for 40 minutes, when a venous infusion of nitroglycerin 1.2 micrograms . kg-1 . min-1 was added for 20 minutes. Nitroglycerin 1.2 micrograms . kg-1 . min-1 alone was infused intravenously in another four dogs for 40 minutes. The venous blood pressures (mesenteric and central) and arterial pressures (mesenteric and femoral), the electrocardiogram and arterio-venous difference were recorded. Nitroglycerin was shown to annul the unfavourable effects of vasopressin without altering its efficacy upon portal pressure.

On the anti-inflammatory and anti-phospholipase A2 activity of extracts from lanostane-rich species

Abstract We have studied extracts from three species rich in lanostane triterpenes for their activity against different in vivo models of inflammation induced by TPA, EPP and PLA2. The inhibitory effect against PLA2 in vitro was also studied. When the Poria cocos extract was tested against PLA2-induced mouse paw edema, it was active by the oral and parenteral routes. Its effect was greater in both magnitude and duration than that of Pistacia terebinthus and Ganoderma lucidum extracts. P. terebinthus was effective against chronic and acute inflammation, and according to a preliminary chromatographic analysis, its seems to be a good source of lanostane anti-inflammatory agents.
