Complete Measurement of the Λ Electromagnetic Form Factors.

2019

The exclusive process e+e−→ΛΛ¯, with Λ→pπ− and Λ¯→p¯π+, has been studied at s=2.396 GeV for measurement of the timelike Λ electric and magnetic form factors, GE and GM. A data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 66.9 pb−1, was collected with the BESIII detector for this purpose. A multidimensional analysis with a complete decomposition of the spin structure of the reaction enables a determination of the modulus of the ratio R=|GE/GM| and, for the first time for any baryon, the relative phase ΔΦ=ΦE−ΦM. The resulting values are R=0.96±0.14(stat)±0.02(syst) and ΔΦ=37°±12°(stat)±6°(syst), respectively. These are obtained using the recently established and most precise value of …

Fast photoconduction in the highly ordered columnar phase of a discotic liquid crystal

1994

THE search for organic materials suitable for electronic applica-tions dates back to the early 1950s. But the only organic systems known so far to show electronic charge-carrier mobilities comparable to the amorphous inorganic semiconductors that are the main-stay of the microelectronics industry are zone-refined organic single crystals1–4. Single crystals are difficult and costly to process, however, and are not suitable for device applications. Here we show that a highly ordered columnar (stacked) phase of disk-like organic molecules can exhibit high mobilities for photoinduced charge carriers, of the order of 0.1 cm2 V-1 s-1—higher than for any organic material other than single-crystal …

Multipactor RF Breakdown in Coaxial Transmission Lines With Digitally Modulated Signals

2016

The aim of this paper is the study of the RF multipactor breakdown in coaxial transmission lines excited by a single carrier with a digitally modulated signal. Employing an in-house developed code, numerical simulations are performed to determine the RF multipactor voltage threshold for several digitally modulated signals under different modulations schemes: quadrature phase-shift keying, 16-quadrature amplitude modulation, 16-amplitude and phase-shift keying, and 32-amplitude and phase-shift keying. Moreover, a coarse method based on the envelope integration to determine the RF multipactor voltage threshold when involving arbitrary digital modulations is also presented. These results are a…

Determination of ketosteroid hormones in meat by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry and derivatization chemistry.

2015

A method for the determination and quantification of ketosteroid hormones in meat by mass spectrometry, based on the derivatization of the carbonyl moiety of steroids by O-methylhydroxylamine, is presented. The quantitative assay is performed by means of multiple-reaction-monitoring (MRM) scan mode and using the corresponding labelled species, obtained by reaction with d 3-methoxylamine, as internal standard. The accuracy of the method was established by evaluating artificially spiked samples, obtaining values in the range 90-110%. Recovery tests were performed on blank matrix samples spiked with non-natural steroids including trenbolone and melengestrol acetate. The latter experiment revea…

Multiplicity of ground states for the scalar curvature equation

2019

We study existence and multiplicity of radial ground states for the scalar curvature equation $$\begin{aligned} \Delta u+ K(|x|)\, u^{\frac{n+2}{n-2}}=0, \quad x\in {{\mathbb {R}}}^n, \quad n>2, \end{aligned}$$when the function $$K:{{\mathbb {R}}}^+\rightarrow {{\mathbb {R}}}^+$$ is bounded above and below by two positive constants, i.e. $$0 0$$, it is decreasing in (0, 1) and increasing in $$(1,+\infty )$$. Chen and Lin (Commun Partial Differ Equ 24:785–799, 1999) had shown the existence of a large number of bubble tower solutions if K is a sufficiently small perturbation of a positive constant. Our main purpose is to improve such a result by considering a non-perturbative situation: we ar…

Multiplicity of Radial Ground States for the Scalar Curvature Equation Without Reciprocal Symmetry

2022

AbstractWe study existence and multiplicity of positive ground states for the scalar curvature equation $$\begin{aligned} \varDelta u+ K(|x|)\, u^{\frac{n+2}{n-2}}=0, \quad x\in {{\mathbb {R}}}^n\,, \quad n>2, \end{aligned}$$ Δ u + K ( | x | ) u n + 2 n - 2 = 0 , x ∈ R n , n > 2 , when the function $$K:{{\mathbb {R}}}^+\rightarrow {{\mathbb {R}}}^+$$ K : R + → R + is bounded above and below by two positive constants, i.e. $$0<\underline{K} \le K(r) \le \overline{K}$$ 0 < K ̲ ≤ K ( r ) ≤ K ¯ for every $$r > 0$$ r > 0 , it is decreasing in $$(0,{{{\mathcal {R}}}})$$ ( 0 , R ) and increasing in $$({{{\mathcal {R}}}},+\infty )$$ ( R , + ∞ ) for a certain $${{{\mathcal {R}}}}&g…

Adaptive independent vector analysis for multi-subject complex-valued fMRI data.

2017

Abstract Background Complex-valued fMRI data can provide additional insights beyond magnitude-only data. However, independent vector analysis (IVA), which has exhibited great potential for group analysis of magnitude-only fMRI data, has rarely been applied to complex-valued fMRI data. The main challenges in this application include the extremely noisy nature and large variability of the source component vector (SCV) distribution. New method To address these challenges, we propose an adaptive fixed-point IVA algorithm for analyzing multiple-subject complex-valued fMRI data. We exploited a multivariate generalized Gaussian distribution (MGGD)- based nonlinear function to match varying SCV dis…

Die dynamische31Phosphor-Magnetresonanz-Spektroskopie des M. quadriceps: Metabolische Veränderungen unter zwei verschiedenen Belastungsformen

1997

PURPOSE The aim of the present investigation was to examine the metabolism of the quadriceps muscles of normal young individuals using dynamic 31phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy. METHODS 22 normal individuals were examined in a 1.5T-MRT using a 6 cm surface coil. The metabolic changes in the quadriceps muscle as shown by the phosphorus spectrum were evaluated during rest, exercise (isometric and isotonic exercise) and during a 36-second period of recovery. RESULTS The Pi/PCr quotient rose from its resting value of 0.11 +/- 0.02 following exercise to a maximum of 0.83 +/- 0.47 (isometric) or 1.40 +/- 0.59 (isotonic) (difference p = 0.0001). Half-time recovery of Pi/PCr was 35 +/- 1…

Magnetic properties of GdPdSb and GdNiSb studied by 155Gd-Mössbauer spectroscopy

2009

Abstract 155 Gd-Mossbauer spectroscopy was applied to study the magnetic properties of GdPdSb with hexagonal LiGaGe structure and of GdNiSb in the cubic MgAgAs-type structure as well as in the hexagonal AlB 2 -type structure. In GdPdSb magnetic ordering is observed at 13.0 K with indications of a tilted spin structure at lower temperatures. In the cubic phase of GdNiSb magnetic ordering is observed at 9.5 K and in the hexagonal phase around 3.5 K. These results are discussed in conjunction with previous investigations of these samples.

Probing Surface Quantum Flows in Deformed Pygmy Dipole Modes

2017

In order to explore the nature of collective modes in weakly bound nuclei, we have investigated deformation effects and surface flow patterns of isovector dipole modes in a shape-coexisting nucleus $^{40}$Mg. The calculations were done in a fully self-consistent continuum finite-amplitude Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (QRPA) in a large deformed spatial mesh. An unexpected result of pygmy and giant dipole modes having disproportionate deformation splittings in strength functions was obtained. Furthermore, the transition current densities demonstrate that the long-sought core-halo oscillation in pygmy resonances is collective and compressional, corresponding to the lowest excitatio…
