We present 10 cases (6 males and 4 females) of children aged 4 to 12 years, who were diagnosed with allergy to clavulanic acid (CL) and treated in the Paediatric Allergy Section of the University Hospital Dr. Peset in Valencia from 2000 to 2005. The children reported symptoms of urticaria and angio-oedema after receiving orally-administered amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (A-CL) for an infection. BACKGROUND: This study evaluated the effects on lamb growth, carcass traits and meat quality of replacing conventional soybean meal in the diet with alternative legume grains. RESULTS: Twenty-eight male lambs of Comisana breed weighing 16.9 ± 2.7 kg at weaning (66 ± 6 days old) were assigned to one of four diets. Using complex ecological olfactory tasks, we evaluated the impact of blindness on olfactory performance. We tested 12 early-blind individuals (M = 49, SD = 13.09) and 12 sighted controls (M = 49, SD = 14.31) who were all blindfolded. Wistar rat skin as surrogate for human skin in nortriptyline hydrochloride patch studies

Six different matrices were prepared containing nortriptyline hydrochloride (NTH) with hydroxypropyl-methyl-cellulose as polymer. A mixture of transdermal enhancers was included as part of the vehicle. Diffusion studies were carried out through Wistar rat full thickness skin using Franz cells. They were compared with previously determined human heat separated epidermis in order to test if this animal can be used as model for in vivo assays. A linear correlation was obtained between NTH diffusion coefficients through both skin types (r2=0.996).
