Einübung in das Denken. Gérard Granels ‚Introduction‘ zu seiner Übersetzung von Martin Heideggers Was heißt Denken?

2018

On the fixed ends of hyperbolic translations of infinite graphs

2009

Let X be an infinite, connected, locally finite and vertex-transitive graph with infinitely many ends and let G be a subgroup of Aut(X) which acts transitively on X. In this note we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of a hyperbolic translation g in G with fixed ends in two prescribed open subsets of the space of ends of X. We also give an explicit combinatorial construction of the hyperbolic translation g in the special case where X is a (right) Cayley graph of a (non-abelian) free group of finite type G.

Regression of advanced rat and human gliomas by local or systemic treatment with oncolytic parvovirus H-1 in rat models

2010

Oncolytic virotherapy is a potential treatment modality under investigation for various malignancies including malignant brain tumors. Unlike some other natural or modified viruses that show oncolytic activity against cerebral neoplasms, the rodent parvovirus H-1 (H-1PV) is completely apathogenic in humans. H-1PV efficiently kills a number of tumor cells without harm to corresponding normal ones. In this study, the concept of H-1PV-based virotherapy of glioma was tested for rat (RG-2 cell-derived) and for human (U87 cell-derived) gliomas in immunocompetent and immunodeficient rat models, respectively. Large orthotopic rat and human glioma cell-derived tumors were treated with either single …

Translation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) surface proteins from the HBV pregenome and precore RNAs in Semliki Forest virus-driven expression.

2004

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) pregenome RNA (pgRNA) serves as a translation template for the HBV core (HBc) protein and viral polymerase (Pol). HBV precore RNA (pcRNA) directs the synthesis of the precore (preC) protein, a precursor of the hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg). pgRNA and pcRNA were expressed in the Semliki Forest virus (SFV) expression system. Besides the HBc and preC proteins, there was revealed the synthesis of all three forms of HBV surface (HBs) proteins: long (LHBs), middle (MHBs) and short (SHBs), the start codons of which are located more than 1000 nt downstream of the HBc and preC start codons. Moreover, other HBV templates, such as 3′-truncated pgRNA lacking 3′ direct repeat and…

Concomitant cellular expression of heat shock regulated genes of hepatitis B virus surface antigen and of human growth hormone by a NIH-3T3 cell line.

1993

A plasmid carrying a DNA fragment of hepatitis B virus, coding for the pre-S2 and the entire S region of the surface antigen (HBsAg), placed under the control of the promoter of the human 70 kDa heat shock protein gene (hsp70), was introduced into Line 6, a recombinant cell line that was selected from NIH-3T3 cells previously transfected with a similar construct coding for the human growth hormone cDNA gene (chGH) and with the plasmid pEJ carrying the Ha-rasEJ activated cellular oncogene. The resulting cell line, EMS8, expressed: (1) hsp70/HBsAg and hsp70/hGH hybrid genes, (2) the human Ha-rasEJ oncogene, and (3) the neomycin resistance gene, the two last plasmid markers being used for cell…

Consensus guidelines for the detection of immunogenic cell death

2014

Apoptotic cells have long been considered as intrinsically tolerogenic or unable to elicit immune responses specific for dead cell-associated antigens. However, multiple stimuli can trigger a functionally peculiar type of apoptotic demise that does not go unnoticed by the adaptive arm of the immune system, which we named "immunogenic cell death" (ICD). ICD is preceded or accompanied by the emission of a series of immunostimulatory damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) in a precise spatiotemporal configuration. Several anticancer agents that have been successfully employed in the clinic for decades, including various chemotherapeutics and radiotherapy, can elicit ICD. Moreover, defect…

Alignement moléculaire : caractérisation et application à la mesure de thermalisation ultra-rapide et au contrôle de génération d'harmoniques

2013

The thematic of this thesis is molecular alignment. The latter is a very important topic that opens the way toward a much more thin control of many phenomenons. So, we have developed a new measurement technique of the molecular alignment along one axis that permits to preserve the sign of alignment. This one is, like other measurement techniques developed by the team, based on the measurement of the refractive index variation induced by the molecular alignment. The technique developed then also permits the molecular alignment measurement, being also an application of it because it allows the third harmonic generation. In the last study, molecular alignment is implemented to show that it bring…

Remarks on the Historiography of Mathematics

2021

In this paper, I examine aspects of the methodological debate that originated in 2010, when the distinguished historian of mathematics Sabetai Unguru reviewed Roshdi Rashed’s edition of the Arabic translation of Apollonius’ Conics. In his review, Unguru criticized what Rashed calls “l’usage instrumental d’une autre mathématique pour commenter une oeuvre ancienne”. I consider this debate very important and will try to place it within in the discussion of the so-called “geometric algebra” that goes back to the seventies, by tracing the contributions of the main figures who took part in it. Joan Roís de Corella, la seua vida i el seu entorn: noves dades per a la història de la cultura en la València del segle xv

2014

This article offers a full updating of the biographical records of the writer Joan Roís de Corella (1435-1497) and his family: his great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, siblings and children. All data are presented in a systematic way, generation by generation, and a new vision of the writer himself is offered. In its documentary section, 432 documents are transcribed or summarised, dating from 1373 to 1516. A broad range of new archival data is presented; other previously known data are corrected or improved. Some examples: Joan Roís de Corella had four children: Magdalena (born 1459), Maria, Joan and Estefania, the latter two by Isabel Martínez de Vera. Joan Roís de Corella was widel…
