Verb-Second and (micro)-variation in two Rhaeto-Romance varieties of Northern Italy.

Rhaeto-Romance varieties are the only present-day Romance varieties which exhibit the Verb Second constraint (Benincà 1994, Poletto 2002, Salvi 2010). In this chapter we examine two properties typically ascribed to the Verb Second phenomenon, subject-finite verb inversion and restrictions on the co-occurrence of multiple constituents in the sentence-initial position, in two Rhaeto-Romance varieties spoken in South Tyrol (Province of Bolzano, Northern Italy). Everyone who acquires a new language at school or elsewhere has the right to learn good pronunciation. As phonetic errors are foreseeable, this paper begins by delineating deviations in (co)articulation and prosody which are typical of Italian learners of German, with the aim of examining how far these specific, predictable phonetic problems are treated in German textbooks used in Italy. Il testo presenta un analisi multimodale di alcune sequenze durante una lezione di tedesco svoltasi in un liceo linguistico nel Trentino-Alto Adige. Vengono focalizzati i diversi livelli di attenzioni degli apprendenti sia nell'interazione con l'insegnante sia nella comunicazioni tra discenti. L'analisi rivela determinate forme di schematizzazione e di routine dell'interazione in classe, nella comunicazione verbale e non verbale, che induce a una maggiore riflessione e un approccio più consapevole nell'ambito dell'insegnamento.
