On-line gel permeation chromatography–attenuated total reflectance–Fourier transform infrared determination of lecithin and soybean oil in dietary su…

2007

Gel permeation chromatography (GPC) with attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectrometry detection has been proposed for the simultaneous determination of lecithin and soybean oil in dietary supplements. The method involves the extraction of analytes with dichloromethane in an ultrasound water bath and the injection of 2 ml of centrifuged and filtered extracts into the system integrated by two Envirogel GPC columns (19 mm x150 mm, 19 mm x 300 mm) coupled on-line. Dichloromethane was used as mobile phase. A method has been developed to select the most appropriated wavenumber to be used for the determination of each considered compound from the calculation of a…

Study of dimensionality using classic factor analysis and full information factor analysis: analysis of primary (5th and 6th degrees) and compulsory …

2008

The aim of this paper is to analyze the dimensional structure of a set of mathematical achievement tests used to assess the academic achievement in the Community of Madrid during 2005-06 and 2006-07 years and in three cohorts corresponding to the following academic degrees: 5th-6th of primary education, 1st-2nd and 3-4th of compulsory secondary education (ESO). The results coming from classical factor analysis and full information factor analysis are compared. Therefore a longitudinal study is performed in order to test whether such structure remains constant along time. The results confirm that most of the tests are mostly unidimensional structures. Meanwhile, it was proven that as the com…

Total and fractional total colourings of circulant graphs

2008

International audience; In this paper, the total chromatic number and the fractional total chromatic number of circulant graphs are studied. For cubic circulant graphs we give upper bounds on the fractional total chromatic number and for 4-regular circulant graphs we find the total chromatic number for some cases and we give the exact value of the fractional total chromatic number in most cases.

Exponential inequalities and estimation of conditional probabilities

2006

This paper deals with the problems of typicality and conditional typicality of “empirical probabilities” for stochastic process and the estimation of potential functions for Gibbs measures and dynamical systems. The questions of typicality have been studied in [FKT88] for independent sequences, in [BRY98, Ris89] for Markov chains. In order to prove the consistency of estimators of transition probability for Markov chains of unknown order, results on typicality and conditional typicality for some (Ψ)-mixing process where obtained in [CsS, Csi02]. Unfortunately, lots of natural mixing process do not satisfy this Ψ -mixing condition (see [DP05]). We consider a class of mixing process inspired …

El discurso totalitario del partido político España 2000

2016

Calcification is not the Achilles'heel of cold-water corals in an acidifying ocean

2015

Ocean acidification is thought to be a major threat to coral reefs: laboratory evidence and CO2 seep research has shown adverse effects on many coral species, although a few are resilient. There are concerns that cold-water corals are even more vulnerable as they live in areas where aragonite saturation (Omega ara) is lower than in the tropics and is falling rapidly due to CO2 emissions. Here, we provide laboratory evidence that net (gross calcification minus dissolution) and gross calcification rates of three common cold-water corals, Caryophyllia smithii, Dendrophyllia cornigera, and Desmophyllum dianthus, are not affected by pCO2 levels expected for 2100 (pCO2 1058 µatm, Omega ara 1.29),…

Ocean acidification affects fish spawning but not paternity at CO2 seeps

2016

Fish exhibit impaired sensory function and altered behaviour at levels of ocean acidification expected to occur owing to anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions during this century. We provide the first evidence of the effects of ocean acidification on reproductive behaviour of fish in the wild. Satellite and sneaker male ocellated wrasse (Symphodus ocellatus) compete to fertilize eggs guarded by dominant nesting males. Key mating behaviours such as dominant male courtship and nest defence did not differ between sites with ambient versus elevated CO2 concentrations. Dominant males did, however, experience significantly lower rates of pair spawning at elevated CO2 levels. Despite the higher r…

Representative major element compositions of clinopyroxenes and phlogopites from ultrapotassic rocks from Nangqian basin (Eastern Tibet)

2020

Representative major element compositions (in wt%) of clinopyroxenes and phlogopites from Nangqian ultrapotassic rocks. In-situ major-element compositions of mineral phases were obtained using the JEOL JXA-8230 Electron Microprobe at ISTerre, University Grenoble Alpes. Analytical conditions were 15 kV accelerating voltage and 12 nA beam current. The ZAF procedure was applied to reduce the raw data. The microprobe was calibrated using natural and synthetic standards. An X-ray element map of a calcite-bearing aggregate was acquired using 15 kV accelerating voltage and 10 nA beam current.

The "Livio Scarsi" X-Ray Facility at University of Palermo for Device Testing

2015

In this work, we report on the characteristics of the Livio Scarsi X-ray facility at University of Palermo. The facility is able to produce low energy X rays, within the energy range of 0.1-60 keV, with fluence rates ranging from 105-108 photons/mm2 s. The laboratory is equipped with an innovative digital detection system, based on semiconductor detectors (Si and CdTe detectors), able to provide accurate and precise estimation of the fluence rate, the energy and the exposure of X rays, even at high counting rate conditions. Instrumentation for electrical characterization (DC-AC) of semiconductor devices, for both off-line and on-line (i.e. during the irradiation) measurements, is also avail…
