2020
In this work the effect of partial or total replacement of fishmeal by plant protein sources and krill and squid meal on growth performance and shelf-life of gilthead sea bream was evaluated. Plant protein dietswith 50 g kg&minus
On the Relationship between Jetted Inks and Printed Biopatterns:Molecular-Thin Functional Microarrays of Glucose Oxidase
2009
Arrays of circular spots of glucose oxidase have been obtained on functionalized silicon oxide by piezoelectric inkjet printing and the enzymatic activity toward glucose recognition has been monitored. The addition of glycerol to the molecular ink allows to obtain high spot definition and resolution (tens of micrometers wide; one molecule tall), but in spite of its well-known structural stabilizing properties, in dynamic conditions it may lead to increased protein stresses. The jetting voltage and pulse length have been found to be critical factors for both activity retention and pattern definition. High voltages and pulse lengths results in stress effects along with the loss of activity, w…
Gray code for permutations with a fixed number of cycles
2007
AbstractWe give the first Gray code for the set of n-length permutations with a given number of cycles. In this code, each permutation is transformed into its successor by a product with a cycle of length three, which is optimal. If we represent each permutation by its transposition array then the obtained list still remains a Gray code and this allows us to construct a constant amortized time (CAT) algorithm for generating these codes. Also, Gray code and generating algorithm for n-length permutations with fixed number of left-to-right minima are discussed.
Obstructing propagation of interfering modes improves detection of guided waves in coated bone models
2014
Interference due to wave propagation in soft tissue that covers the bone is a major challenge to in vivo assessment of the fundamental flexural guided wave (FFGW) in bone. To improve signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) we propose to obstruct the propagation of interfering modes by locally deforming the coating by external mechanical compression. This approach was modeled by 2D finite-element transient domain (FEMTD) simulations in a fluid-coated (7 mm) solid plate (3 mm). The fluid layer mimics the soft tissue that covers the bone. A single emitter or a 6-element phased array excited ultrasound pulses at 50 kHz on the surface of the coating, and a receiver array was placed on the surface, 20…
A novel hardware accelerator for the HEVC intra prediction
2015
International audience; A novel hardware accelerator for the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) intra prediction is presented in this paper in order to reduce the computation complexity within this standard and to accelerate the concerned calculations. We propose a new pipelined structure that we called Processing Element (PE) to execute all angular modes, and we repeat it in five paths that our architecture composed of. We present also another structure to carry out the Planar mode. This architecture supports all intra prediction modes for all prediction unit sizes. The synthesis results show that our design can run at 213 MHz for Xilinx Virtex 6 and is capable to process real time 120 10…
Fully pipelined real time hardware solution for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) intra prediction
2016
International audience; A fully pipelined hardware accelerator for the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) intra prediction is presented in this paper in order to reduce the computation complexity coming with this module and to accelerate the concerned calculations. Two reconfigurable structures are developed in this paper, the first one concerns angular modes and is identified as Processing Element for Angular (PEA) modes, the other is made in order to handle with the Planar mode and is identified as Processing Element for the Planar (PEP) mode. Each structure is repeated in five paths, that our architecture composed of, working in parallel way. This architecture supports all intra predict…
SYSTOLIC GENERATION OF k-ARY TREES
1999
The only parallel generating algorithms for k-ary trees are those of Akl and Stojmenović in 1996 and of Vajnovszki and Phillips in 1997. In the first of them, trees are represented by an inversion table and the processor model is a linear aray multicomputer. In the second, trees are represented by bitstrings and the algorithm executes on a shared memory multiprocessor. In this paper we give a parallel generating algorithm for k-ary trees represented by generalized P–sequences for execution on a linear array multicomputer.
A readout unit for high rate applications
2002
The LHCb readout unit (RU) is a custom entry stage to the readout network of a data-acquisition or trigger system. It performs subevent building from multiple link inputs toward a readout network via a PCI network interface or alternatively toward a high-speed link, via an S-link interface. Incoming event fragments are derandomized, buffered and assembled into single subevents. This process is based on a low-overhead framing convention and matching of equal event numbers. Programmable logic is used both in the input and output stages of the RU module, which may be configured either as a data-link multiplexer or as entry stage to a readout or trigger network. All FPGAs are interconnected via…
Cardio-facio-cutaneous syndrome and gastrointestinal defects: report on a newborn with 19p13.3 deletion including the MAP 2 K2 gene
2022
Abstract Background Cardio-facio-cutaneous syndrome (CFCS) belongs to RASopathies, a group of conditions caused by mutations in genes encoding proteins of the rat sarcoma/mitogen-activated protein kinase (RAS/MAPK) pathway. It is a rare syndrome, with about 300 patients reported. Main clinical manifestations include facial dysmorphisms, growth failure, heart defects, developmental delay, and ectodermal abnormalities. Mutations (mainly missense) of four genes (BRAF, MAP 2 K1, MAP 2 K2, and KRAS) have been associated to CFCS. However, whole gene deletions/duplications and chromosomal microdeletions have been also reported. Specifically, 19p13.3 deletion including MAP 2 K2 gene are responsible…
p16INK4A (CDKN2A) gene deletion is a frequent genetic event in synovial sarcomas.
2006
We assessed the frequency of genomic deletion of p16 INK4A (CDKN2A) in synovial sarcomas (SSs) and its possible association with immunoexpression of p16 and cyclin D1 and the Ki-67 proliferation index using dualcolor fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) on tissue microarray sections of 41 histologically and molecularly confirmed SSs. A heterozygous p16 INK4A gene deletion was identified in 28 (74%) of 38 cases, with 25 (89%) of them showing abnormal p16 protein expression (20 negative and 5 heterogeneous). Of 25 cases, 19 (76%) exhibiting increased cyclin D1 expression also demonstrated heterozygous p16 INK4A deletion. No significant association was observed between p16 INK4A deletion …
