A multispecies approach for modeling the ecological impact of urban development using landscape graphs

2013

International audience; Managing urban sprawl is become a major concern in the field of landscape ecology, since the land use changes involved by urban development may affect the ability of wildlife species to move across the landscape. In order to compare the ecological impact of several urban patterns, we aim at combining two complementary approaches: 1) Simulations of residential development from an initial land use map, using morphological rules of urban development (i.e. fractal vs non fractal) and accessibility constraints; 2) Models of ecological networks applied to a given natural habitat, using a landscape graphs-based approach. As landscape graphs are built according to the moving…

Close-Range Photogrammetric Tools for Epigraphic Surveys

2016

In this article, we present a method to carry out a computerized epigraphic survey of historic stones and their engraved epigraphy. In fact, the preservation of archaeological objects has always been an issue of concern for the research community. On the one hand, the fragility of the objects limits their study. On the other hand, such objects are housed in museums, libraries, and institutions worldwide, locations that significantly limit their accessibility. Different survey methods have been carried out in these attempts to overcome the aforementioned limitations. Among them, the MicMac open source software was used in this work to survey and process the dense correlation of the hieroglyp…

2015

The study begins with an analysis of the reasons why the images of the American version of Murena are censored, with modest veils being thrown upon any instance of nudity while this version rather emphasizes the violence of the graphic novel in its translation and adaptation choices. That paradoxical attitude is discussed in the context of the ambiguities developed in the US culture as regards the representation of nudity being a reminder of the human species’ animal dimension in a society still fraught with puritanical assumptions. Although those ambiguous choices may be ascribed to the publisher’s wish to adapt Murena to the young readers regarded as their main target, they may also repre…

2013

Defining shapes by iteration allows us to generate new structures with specific properties (roughness, lacunarity), which cannot be achieved with classic modelling. For developing an iterative modeller to design fractals described by a BCIFS, we developed a set oftools and algorithms that permits one to evaluate, to characterize and to analyse different geometricproperties (localisation, convex hull, volume, fractal dimension) of fractals. We identified properties ofstandard CAD operations (intersection, union, offset, . . . ) allowing us to approximate them for fractalsand also to optimize these approximation algorithms. In some cases, it is possible to construct a CIFS with generalised HUTCH…

ScaleSem : model checking and semantic web

2012

The increasing development of networks and especially the Internet has greatly expanded the gap between heterogeneous information systems. In a review of studies of interoperability of heterogeneous information systems, we find that all the work in this area tends to be in solving the problems of semantic heterogeneity. The W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards proposed to represent the semantic ontology. Ontology is becoming an indispensable support for interoperability of information systems, and in particular the semantics. The structure of the ontology is a combination of concepts, properties and relations. This combination is also called a semantic graph. Several languages have bee…

Didáctica de las ciencias experimentales y sociales

2005

ABSTARCT: Thi…
