Inferring directionality of coupled dynamical systems using Gaussian process priors: Application on neurovascular systems

Dynamical system theory has recently shown promise for uncovering causality and directionality in complex systems, particularly using the method of convergent cross mapping (CCM). In spite of its success in the literature, the presence of process noise raises concern about CCM's ability to uncover coupling direction. Furthermore, CCM's capacity to detect indirect causal links may be challenged in simulated unidrectionally coupled Rossler-Lorenz systems. Stability of stochastic nonlinear systems with state-dependent switching

In this paper, the problem of stability on stochastic systems with state-dependent switching is investigated. To analyze properties of the switched system by means of Itô’s formula and Dynkin’s formula, it is critical to show switching instants being stopping times. When the given active-region set can be replaced by its interior, the local solution of the switched system is constructed by defining a series of stopping times as switching instants, and the criteria on global existence and stability of solution are presented by Lyapunov approach. As discussed in literature, the accurate analysis of the modern co-cured joints between composite materials or between a metal and a composite material (hybrid joints) is complicated by the influence of the interface resin layer on the interface singular stress field. In such joints, in fact, there is not a proper adhesive layer and the thickness of the resin layer, that plays the role of the adhesive, is not constant due to the presence of the reinforcing fibers in the composite adherent. Opiskelija-arvioinnilla on merkittävä asema kaikkialla koulumaailmassa, niin myös suomalaisessa lukiossa. Vaikutusvaltaisesta roolistaan huolimatta arviointia ja sen käytännön toteutusta lukiossa tai lukion kieltenopetuksessa on tutkittu niukasti. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tutkia kyselylomakkeen avulla, kuinka lukiolaiset (146 lukiolaista yhdestä koulusta) itse kokivat arvioinnin osana englannin opintojaan, millaisia arviointimenetelmiä he olivat kohdanneet ja mitä niistä he pitivät hyödyllisinä. Suolistoamme asuttava miljardilukuinen mikrobiyhteisö osallistuu fysiologiaamme monin tavoin. Se kykenee esimerkiksi hajottamaan ravinnosta yhdisteitä, joihin omat entsyymimme eivät pure. Poikittaistutkimuksissa on löydetty ihmisen fyysisen suorituskyvyn ja suolistomikrobien välisiä yhteyksiä. Liikunta-aktiivisuus näyttäisi lisäävän tiettyjen terveysvaikutteisten suolistomikrobien määrää. Pitkittäistutkimuksista tekemämme systemoitu katsaus osoittaa, että liikunta vaikuttaa ihmisten suolistomikrobeihin, mutta tulokset ovat ristiriitaisia.
