Experiences with applications of macromolecular tools in supramolecular crystallography

2014

Supramolecular structures, with ever increasing size ranging from a few up to tens of nanometres, represent an intermediate stage between small molecules and biological macromolecules. Many crystal structures of these large supramolecular assemblies have been solved using dual space algorithms. However, supramolecular assemblies with a capsular shape present a particular challenge for crystallography, especially when they are chiral and composed of only light atoms. In this paper, we show that the application of “routine” macromolecular tools may be of great help in solving the crystal structures of supramolecular assemblies that are otherwise refractory to the routine methods of small mole…

Molecular electric quadrupole moments calculated with matrix dressed SDCI

2002

Abstract We have calculated the molecular electric quadrupole moment (MEQM) for the set of molecules N 2 , C 2 H 2 , CO, CO 2 , CS 2 , HF, and BH. We have used SR-SDCI and (SC) 2 -SR-SDCI methods and we have compared our results with high-level theoretical ones, including FCI values for HF and BH, and with experimental values. The calculated MEQM provides a test of the effect that the energy converged (SC) 2 dressing method brings to the SDCI wavefunctions. The results suggest that the (SC) 2 -SR-SDCI method can be a cost-effective and quite accurate method for the calculation of post-SCF effects on electric quadrupole moments.

Landomycins as glutathione-depleting agents and natural fluorescent probes for cellular Michael adduct-dependent quinone metabolism

2021

Landomycins are angucyclines with promising antineoplastic activity produced by Streptomyces bacteria. The aglycone landomycinone is the distinctive core, while the oligosaccharide chain differs within derivatives. Herein, we report that landomycins spontaneously form Michael adducts with biothiols, including reduced cysteine and glutathione, both cell-free or intracellularly involving the benz[a]anthraquinone moiety of landomycinone. While landomycins generally do not display emissive properties, the respective Michael adducts exerted intense blue fluorescence in a glycosidic chain-dependent manner. This allowed label-free tracking of the short-lived nature of the mono-SH-adduct followed b…

PSA-NCAM immunocytochemistry in the cerebral cortex and other telencephalic areas of the lizard Podarcis hispanica: differential expression during me…

2002

The lizard medial cortex, a region homologous to the mammalian dentate gyrus, shows postnatal neurogenesis and the surprising ability to replace its neurons after being lesioned specifically with the neurotoxin 3-acetylpyridine. As the polysialylated form of the neural cell adhesion molecule (PSA-NCAM) is expressed during neuronal migration and differentiation, we have studied its distribution in adult lizards and also during the lesion-regeneration process. In the medial cortex of control animals, many labeled fusiform somata, presumably corresponding to migratory neuroblasts, appeared in the inner plexiform layer. There were also scattered immunoreactive granule neurons in the cell layer.…

Regulatory Functions of MicroRNAs in Cancer Pathogenesis

2021

Abstract- MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a large family of evolutionary conserved small non-coding RNA molecules that firstly discovered in 1993. They regulate gene expression of about 50% of protein-coding genes at the post-transcriptional level. MiRNAs can target numerous messenger RNAs and subsequent misexpression of them can affect many different signaling pathways. They are playing a pivotal role in cancer development by regulation of the genes expression which involved in the proliferation, survival, differentiation, apoptosis or metastasis of the cancer cells. Several treatment approaches such as inhibition of oncomiRs and restoration of tumor suppressor miRNAs have been established in certa…

Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic characterization of a series of CuII-LnIII heterometallic [Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd and Sm) metal-organic compou…

2013

The synthesis and structural characterization of five Cu(II)-Ln(III) heteronuclear metal-organic frameworks of formula {[Ln4Cu 4(H2O)26(bta)5]·mH 2O}n and {[Ln4Cu4(H 2O)24(bta)5]·pH2O} n [Ln = LaIII (1A/1B), CeIII (2A/2B), Pr III (3A/3B), NdIII (4A/4B) and SmIII (5A/5B) with m/p = 20 (1A)/16 (1B), 18 (2A)/16 (2B), 14 (3A)/16 (3B), 22 (4A)/16 (4B) and 21 (5A)/14 (5B); H4bta =1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid (1-5)] have been performed. These compounds present a single-crystal to single-crystal phase transition from expanded A phases toward the B shrinking networks, which is triggered only in the presence of a dry environment. This phase transition is accompanied by a compression of the cry…

[(1R,4S)-(+)-3-Benzoyl-1,7,7-trimethylbicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-olato-κ2 O 2,O 3](η4-norbornadiene)rhodium(I)

2010

In the title complex mol-ecule, [Rh(C(17)H(19)O(2))(C(7)H(8))], the rhodium(I) metal centre is coordinated by the O atoms of a benzoyl-camphorate anion and the C=C bonds of the norbornadiene mol-ecule into a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry. The six-membered chelate ring is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0378 Å) and forms a dihedral angle of 31.67 (11)° with the phenyl ring.

cis-Dichloridobis(2-isocyanophenyl 4-methoxybenzoate)palladium(II) chloroform monosolvate

2012

In the title compound, [PdCl2(C15H11NO3)2]·CHCl3, the PdII atom adopts a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry composed of two Cl atoms in cis positions and two C atoms from isocyanophenyl ligands. The molecular conformation is stabilized by π–π stacking interactions [shortest centroid–centroid distance = 3.600 (1) Å] between substituted benzene rings of different ligands. The crystal packing is characterized by C—H...O and C—H...Cl interactions involving the chloroform solvent molecules.

Di-chlorido-[N-(N,N-di-methyl-carbamimido-yl)-N',N',4-tri-methyl-benzohydrazonamide]-platinum(II) nitro-methane hemisolvate.

2014

In the title compound, [PtCl2(C13H21N5)]·0.5CH3NO2, the PtIIatom is coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry by two Cl atoms and two N atoms of the bidentate ligand. The (1,3,5-triazapentadiene)PtIImetalla ring is slightly bent and does not conjugate with the aromatic ring. In the crystal, N—H...Cl hydrogen bonds link the complex molecules, forming chains along [001]. The nitromethane solvent molecule shows half-occupancy and is disordered over two sets of sites about an inversion centre.
