Ein Verfahren zur Behandlung von Ausgleichsaufgaben mit Intervallkoeffizienten

1976

On the path representation of networks

1982

A compact data structure for networks is obtained by storing arcs of paths sequentially. This structure allows forward and backward access from a node to its neighbors.

Network structure and optimal technological innovation

2019

The role of networks in the emergence, diffusion and evolution of technological innovations has attracted much theoretical and empirical attention. Yet, much of the work has explored the role of undirected and homogeneous networks. In real cases, many networks are directed. The flow of information, benefits or observations is directed from one node towards another node. Real networks are also heterogeneous, for example, few nodes have a high degree while many others have a low degree. In this article, we report on the results of an evolutionary agent-based model in which a group of agents, in our case firms, collectively search a complex (rugged) technological landscape and observe each oth…

Derivatives and inverse of a linear-nonlinear multi-layer spatial vision model

2016

Linear-nonlinear transforms are interesting in vision science because they are key in modeling a number of perceptual experiences such as color, motion or spatial texture. Here we first show that a number of issues in vision may be addressed through an analytic expression of the Jacobian of these linear-nonlinear transforms. The particular model analyzed afterwards (an extension of [Malo & Simoncelli SPIE 2015]) is illustrative because it consists of a cascade of standard linear-nonlinear modules. Each module roughly corresponds to a known psychophysical mechanism: (1) linear spectral integration and nonlinear brightness-from-luminance computation, (2) linear pooling of local brightness…

The Development of Students’ Metacognitive Competences. A Case Study

2010

In the information society metacognitive competencies are essential. Based on some activities from the Enrichment Instrumental Program elaborated by professor Reuven Feuerstein we have designed a program for developing the students capacities of selfcontrol, selfknowing and intelectual learning strategies. The case study presents the formation of students’ metacognitive competences at the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, "Hermann Oberth" Faculty of Enginereeing, Department of Computers Sciences. A Web based application has been developed in order to enable students to self-evaluate their metacognitive competencies and to acquire self-regulatory abilities.

On the Computational Complexity of Binary and Analog Symmetric Hopfield Nets

2000

We investigate the computational properties of finite binary- and analog-state discrete-time symmetric Hopfield nets. For binary networks, we obtain a simulation of convergent asymmetric networks by symmetric networks with only a linear increase in network size and computation time. Then we analyze the convergence time of Hopfield nets in terms of the length of their bit representations. Here we construct an analog symmetric network whose convergence time exceeds the convergence time of any binary Hopfield net with the same representation length. Further, we prove that the MIN ENERGY problem for analog Hopfield nets is NP-hard and provide a polynomial time approximation algorithm for this p…
