CEO satisfaction and intended strategic changes

2018

How do CEOs react to attainment discrepancies in their organizations' performance? Scholars have generally argued that (only) when performance falls below a certain aspiration level do CEOs intend to change the organization's strategy. However, empirical evidence on this issue is ambiguous and inconclusive. We address this puzzle directly by studying how CEOs' cognitive interpretations of performance (their satisfaction with the firm's performance) affect the magnitude of intended strategic changes, and we explore the moderating effect of the context (performance compared to the industry) on this relationship. Using a sample of medium-sized organizations, we find that CEOs' satisfaction wit…

Two non-zero solutions for Sturm–Liouville equations with mixed boundary conditions

2019

Abstract In this paper, we establish the existence of two non-zero solutions for a mixed boundary value problem with the Sturm–Liouville equation. The approach is based on a recent two critical point theorem.

Mobile Telephony in Emerging Markets: The Importance of Multi-Simming Customers

2015

Rapidly increasing sales of multi-SIM phones, mobile penetration rates above 100% and reported customer behavior all point to the fact that a signicant share of mobile customers in emerging markets tend to use more than one SIM card. A primary motive for this is to avoid making expensive o-net calls. We add a segment of exible prepaid customers, who choose to "multi-sim" in equilibrium, to the seminal model of competing telephone networks a la Laont,

Nitrous oxide fluxes from permafrost regions

2020

This dataset is a synthesis of published nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes from permafrost-affected soils in Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine permafrost regions. The data includes mean N2O flux rates measured under field (in situ) conditions and in intact plant-soil systems (mesocosms) under near-field conditions. The dataset further includes explanatory environmental parameters such as meteorological data, soil physical-chemical properties, as well as site and experimental information. Data has been synthesized from published studies (see 'Further details'), and in some cases the authors of published studies have been contacted for additional site-level information. The dataset includes studies publ…

The paper analyses the impact that the recent inclusion of the environment in the Italian Constitution may have in the criminal law both with respect to the criminally relevant notion of the environment and with regard to the selection of the types of criminal offences. From this point of view the paper also takes into consideration the penal significance of the new bond of intergenerational ecological solidarity. Following the file rouge of the “bene giuridico” the second part of the essay is instead dedicated to the description of the critical points and the possible developments of international environmental criminal law in the light of a conception of the environment as a common and universal legal good.Settore IUS/17 - Diritto Penale

The paper presents the study of the plaster formulated to imitate the natural stones and marbles that are popular in Sicily in the early twentieth century and points out that the first applications and the dissemination of new mortars also in the rest of Italy feels the influence of the experiments conducted throughout Europe . The contribution summarizes the results of a rigorous and thorough reconnaissance of patents kept in the Archivio Centrale dello Stato in Rome relating to mortars for plastering an artificial stone critically analyzes the content and emphasizes cultural contacts with the experiments on large-scale restoration projects in Italy and France in the late nineteenth century. The analysis of the architectural surfaces is developed with instrumental tests: the levels of adhesion of finishing surface are characterized in particular through a campaign of thermographic investigations and diagnosis is drawn to show that the consolidation of the layers and reintegration are interventions to be introduced within the restoration project and maintenance program.Settore ICAR/19 - Restauro

ASSET MARKETS AND EQUILIBRIUM SELECTION IN PUBLIC GOODS GAMES WITH PROVISION POINTS: AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

2001

We report experimental results on the effects that auctioning the right to play a public goods game with a provision point may have on equilibrium selection and individual behavior. Auctioning off such a right among a larger population of players strikingly enhances public good provision. Once public good provision is obtained, the auction price at the preliminary stage increases to its upper limit, dissipating all players’ gains associated with the provision of the public good. Individual deviations from the equilibrium strategy are neither able to force lower market prices nor to affect provision of the public good in subsequent periods. (JEL C72, C92, H41) I. INTRODUCTION Public good pro…

Comparison of different revenue models in SaaS

2012

Cloud computing brings new possibilities for software firms to sell their products within a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. However, although SaaS provides new revenue models, it may not easily achieve a profitable revenue stream. For customers, SaaS promises cost savings related to IT expenses. However, it may be difficult to estimate which revenue model will be best for a given situation. In this paper I present the common revenue models used in SaaS, examining their advantages and disadvantages from the point of view of the software provider and the customer. Three solutions for a Neumann boundary value problem involving the p-Laplacian

2005

In this note we prove the existence of an open interval ]λ', λ"[ for each λ of which a Neumann boundary value problem involving the p-Laplacian and depending on λ admits at least three solutions. The result is based on a recent three critical points theorem.

Trademarks and Cyberspace

2006

Trademark law aids consumers who use trademarks in the marketplace to identify swiftly and without problems a product they liked or disliked in the past, distinguishing among the different competing manufacturers of a product. No one is entitled to sell or deliver commodities under the appearance that the commodities derive from someone else. The importance of consumer protection cannot be over-emphasized and the average consumer standard should remain the central point of the inquiry, even under domain name litigation. Replacing the initial interest confusion doctrine is one decisive step, along with the introduction of a doctrine representing the fact that there should be no confusion at …
