This paper proposes a novel approach for building transparent knowledge-based systems by generating interpretable fuzzy rules that allow for present dependences between quantitative variables by accounting for uncertainty and the dynamics of their values. In the approach, IF-THEN rules are used to show the conditional relationship between the ordered fuzzy numbers, which contain additional information about the tendencies of variables' value changes. On Some Vagaries of Vagueness and Information

The presence of vagueness in scientific theories (in particular, to those related to and connected with the management of information) is briefly analyzed. We consider, firstly, the problem whether vague predicates can be adequately represented by existing formal theories. A negative answer to this question produces, as a by-product, the suggestion that a good semantics for fuzzy sets can be offered by the notion of “distance from idealized items”. Fractional Hardy inequalities and visibility of the boundary

We prove fractional order Hardy inequalities on open sets under a combined fatness and visibility condition on the boundary. We demonstrate by counterexamples that fatness conditions alone are not sufficient for such Hardy inequalities to hold. In addition, we give a short exposition of various fatness conditions related to our main result, and apply fractional Hardy inequalities in connection to the boundedness of extension operators for fractional Sobolev spaces.

In recent years, a growing number of forced migrants have travelled to Italy across the Mediterranean Sea. While the number of new arrivals has diminished since 2017, the Italian reception system still struggles to process the high number of applications for international protection. Il volume esamina, per la prima volta, i simulacri lignei del Settecento custoditi nelle chiese, nei Musei Diocesani e nelle collezioni private dell’Isola. Sono opere che, a grandezza naturale e di forte impatto emotivo, furono commissionate da prelati, confraternite, devoti e nobili.
