The effectiveness of 12 months' intensive shoulder strength training on disability, health-related quality of life and shoulder function after rotato…
2017
This study examined the effectiveness of intensive shoulder strength training on disability, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and shoulder function in patients who had undergone rotator cuff repair (RCR). In addition, the self- report section of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Assessment Form (ASES) was cross-culturally adapted to the Finnish language and the psychometric properties of the Finnish version were assessed. Patients with a rotator cuff tear (aged 41-62 years) were randomized into an exercise group (EG, n=35) or a usual care group (UCG, n=32) after RCR. Disability was assessed with ASES questionnaire and quality of life with Short- Form 36 Health Surv…
Educational Impact Evaluation of Professional Development of In-Service Teachers: The Case of the Dialogic Pedagogical Gatherings at Valencia “On Gia…
2021
There is a broad consensus on the impact of teacher quality on students’ outcomes. However, the debate on how to evaluate the impact of teacher training on student improvement remains open. The evaluation of the impact of in-service teacher training, organized in a network for different schools, has been analyzed very little to date. Our research displays an innovative approach in this regard, through an In-Service Professional Development Program based upon scientific evidence and dialogic principles: The Pedagogical Gatherings “On Giant’s Shoulders”. We conducted a multilevel communicative study to analyze its impact upon students’ achievement and schools’ outcomes whose teachers taking p…
Les apothicaires en Sicile à la fin du Moyen Âge
2018
Between the Fifteenth and Sixteenth centuries, detailed regulations were set to control abuses by apothecaries, to watch over pharmacies, preparations and sales of medicines. There are the sign of a sicilian precocity. But apothecaries, in reality, far from the utopian model proposed by the treaties of the time, seem accustomed to cheat on the quantity and quality. This article aims to reconstruct as complete a picture as possible of the apothecary’s career: its training course based on books but also on apprenticeship in the shop, close to the master, and strategies used to establish within the urban infrastructure.
Use of simulation-based learning among perioperative nurses and students: A scoping review.
2018
Abstract Objectives Simulation-based learning has been extensively explored, especially in baccalaureate nursing programmes. Recently, simulation-based learning has been introduced in perioperative nursing. The aim of this scoping review is to investigate work published on the use of simulation-based learning in the field of perioperative nursing. Design and data sources A scoping review was conducted using the methodological framework of Arksey and O'Malley to identify a broad range of relevant literature, regardless of study design. A comprehensive and systematic search was performed using Medline, CINAHL, Eric, Svemed+, PsychINFO and Embase in May 2016 and then was updated in February 20…
Acquisition of Skills, Training Activities and Learning Outcomes: Empirical Evidence in the Degree in Finance and Accounting
2015
The aim of this paper is examining whether the new teaching model, based on a skills training approach, is being applied in the implementation of degrees. In particular, we examine it by an analysis of the degree in Finance and Accounting at University of Valencia. Interviews with the subjects’ coordinators as well as surveys addressed to both students and professors show that, although methodological changes have been made, the new teaching model has not been adopted yet. Results also show that carrying out more training activities does not have a signifi cant effect on the students’ learning outcomes.
Predictors of school students’ leisure-time physical activity : An extended trans-contextual model using Bayesian path analysis
2021
Abstract Background:The trans-contextual model (TCM) has been applied to identify the determinants of leisure-time physical activity participation in secondary school students. In the current study, the TCM was extended to include additional constructs that represent non-conscious, implicit processes that lead to leisure-time physical activity participation alongside the motivational and social cognition constructs from the TCM. The current study used baseline and follow-up data from an intervention study to test the extended TCM.Methods:The current study adopted a two-wave prospective design. Secondary-school students (N = 502) completed measures of perceived autonomy support from physical…
Parenting dimensions in relation to pre-schoolers’ behaviour problems in Latvia and Lithuania
2014
The aim of the present study was to examine associations between parenting and child behaviour problems in two neighbouring countries with subtle, yet apparent cultural differences. Participants were mothers and fathers of preschool-age children from Latvia and Lithuania. Parents completed a measure of child-rearing attitudes and reported on their child’s internalizing and externalizing behaviours. In both countries, parental warmth was negatively associated with child behaviour problems, and punishment orientation was positively associated. There were differences by country in the association of paternal psychological control and behaviour problems, and in the interactions of parenting di…
Reducing homework stress by increasing adoption of need-supportive practices: Effects of an intervention with parents
2020
Abstract Homework is widely recognized as a source of stress for both parents and children, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study tested the hypothesis that the frustration of the basic psychological needs for competence, autonomy and relatedness is the main source of stress and that satisfying these needs should reduce stress and lead to more positive outcomes. Study 1 assessed the associations between parental and child need frustration, homework stress and parental adoption of need-thwarting practices (n = 171 parent/child dyads). Study 2 tested the effectiveness of a four-session parental training (n = 55) program focused on helping parents increase their need-support…
Effectiveness & the role of social media in a small organization's strategy in the personal training industry
2018
