Group-based intervention on attention and executive functions in the school context

The objective of the study was to examine the effects of a group-based behavioural, cognitive and skills training intervention (Maltti) provided in schools for elementary school pupils with attention and executive function (EF) deficits. The treatment effects were identified by comparing an intervention group (n = 46) with a waitlist control group (n = 26). Specific effects of the intervention on behavioural deficits in attention and EF in a classroom setting as well as on academic skills were examined. Die vorliegende Arbeit umfasst 3 Untersuchungen zur Interrater-Reliabilitat der deutschen Version der “Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale for Schizophrenia” (PANSS). Zur Interrater-Reliabilitat und Trainierbarkeit der PANSS liegen im deutschen Sprachraum trotz der weiten Verbreitung der Skala bisher keine empirischen Daten vor. Bei 3 Stichproben mit insgesamt 47 Teilnehmern unterschiedlicher klinischer Erfahrung wurde ein standardisiertes PANSS-Rater-Training durchgefuhrt und evaluiert. Als Qualitatsmase fur das Training wurden die Ubereinstimmung mit einem Expertenstandard (K) und gewichtete Kappa-Koeffizienten (κw) berechnet. Virtuelle 3-D-Laparoskopie-Simulation in der chirurgischen Aus- und Weiterbildung – Ergebnisse einer Pilotstudie

Hintergrund: Dem technischen Fortschritt folgend, werden im Operationssaal Module zur 3-dimensionalen Darstellung in der Laparoskopie eingesetzt. Erste Untersuchungen an Box-Trainern haben diskrepante Ergebnisse gezeigt. Fur die Virtual-Reality-Laparoskopie (VRL) fehlen Daten zur 3-dimensionalen Simulation. Material und Methoden: 5 Facharzte fur Chirurgie, 10 chirurgisch tatige Arzte in Weiterbildung und 29 Medizinstudenten fuhrten abstrakte und prozedurale Ubungen am VRL-Simulator im 2-D- und 3-D-Modus durch. Neurophysiological mechanisms of motor imagery : effects of associated somatosensory stimulation

Mental training, which involves mentally simulating an action without motor output, is an effective stimulus to improve the maximal voluntary contraction. If only the motor pathway is activated, an activation of the somatosensory cortex is observed despite the lack of afferent feedback. Indeed, the motor imagery task efficiency is based in part on an interaction between motor and sensory pathway. Thus, it’s seems reasonable to think that the addition of sensory afferent feedback during motor imagery could potentiate the motor imagery effects and thus improve motor performance.
