The second book of Herodotus’ Histories on Egypt tells the story of the katábasis of the wealthy and happy pharaoh Rhampsinitus, who descended into Hades while still alive. In the Underworld the ruler played dice with Demeter: sometimes he won, sometimes he lost. Returning from Hades he brought back a small golden cloth as a gift from the goddess. According to Herodotus, the Egyptians celebrate the return of the king with a festival during which one of the priests is blindfolded and led to the road to the sanctuary of Demeter. Parler des modèles en histoire est une affaire délicate, car le mot recouvre des pratiques historiennes différentes depuis son apparition dans la discipline, après la dernière guerre mondiale. Today, academic failure is closely monitored, especially when first year students are concerned. The aim of this dissertation is the comprehension of the mechanism that builds academic success. The approach is both quantitative and integrative. For this purpose, data have been collected from 700 first year students in social administration, law and psychology areas in the university of Burgundy. Collected information allows to control academic and demographic factors. Study of the dynamics of biomolecules by high speed atomic force microscopy and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy

This thesis focuses on the coupling of High–Speed Atomic Force Microscopy (HS-AFM) and Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) for biomolecule analysis. We have designed a fabrication protocol to manufacture “SERS-active” substrates. The efficacy of gold, silver and gold-silver bimetallic crystalline nanoparticle substrates were evaluated. We have investigated the impact of optical and morphological features of the substrates on Raman signal intensity by analyzing well-known samples such as bipyridine ethylene and methylene blue molecules.
