Corinna Norrick-Ruhl offers a unique comparative approach, synthesizing research about book sales clubs in twentieth-century Germany and the USA. [EN] This paper presents a new human happiness index built through five dimensions: development, freedom, solidarity, justice and peace. These five dimensions are evaluated through quantitative variables obtained from the Human Development Reports, World Data Bank and Eurostat. The new happiness index has been built following the guidelines set by the Human Development Reports of the UN for the construction of quality indices, and it has been compared on a set of 13 EU countries with the Overall Life Satisfaction Index, which is used by the UN. We present a system aimed at the automatic classification of the sentiment orientation expressed into book reviews written in Italian language. The system we have developed is found on a lexicon-based approach and uses NLP techniques in order to take into account the linguistic relation between terms in the analyzed texts. The classification of a review is based on the average sentiment strenght of its sentences, while the classification of each sentence is obtained through a parsing process inspecting, for each term, a window of previous items to detect particular combinations of elements giving inversions or variations of polarity. Mafia Methods, Extortion Dynamics and Social Responses

This chapter is devoted to exploring both the empirical results and the policy proposals produced by the GLODERS project. Based on 631 cases of extortions, the Sicily and Calabria extortion database represents a relevant achievement in the field of the research on extortion racket and it is one of the main results of the GLODERS project. Gathering a great amount of information, our empirical analysis revealed the existence of several differences in the extortive conducts carried on within these two regions, which are presented. Moreover, the chapter introduces the legislation related to the crime of extortion. Social and legal responses to the phenomenon are then discussed.

Les activités de rééducation GAPP à l'école primaire : analyse du fonctionnement et évaluation des effets

Alain Mingat : Die Umschulungsaktivitäten der GAPP (Gruppen zur psychopädagogischer Hilfe) in der Grundschule. Die GAPP wurden vor za. 20 Jahren geschaffen mit dem Zweck, die Schüler zu unterstützen, die vorübergehende Schwierigkeiten zur guten Eingliederung in die Schule aufweisen. Diese Einrichtung wurde bisher lediglich diskursiv analysiert. Der vorliegende Artikel zeigt, dass starke Unterschiede im Funktionieren der Dienstleistungen bestehen (Mittelzuweisung durch die Verwaltung, Umschulungspraxis, allgemein und zwischen den einzelnen GAPP-Einrichtungen) mit der Konsequenz, dass die Zulassungsentscheidungen sehr ungenau sind : das erleichtet nebenbei die Bewertung der Auswirkungen.
