Aclidinium inhibits cigarette smoke-induced lung fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transition.

2012

Cigarette smoking contributes to lung remodelling in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). As part of this remodelling, peribronchiolar fibrosis is observed in the small airways of COPD patients and contributes to airway obstruction. Fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transition is a key step in peribronchiolar fibrosis formation. This in vitro study examined the effect of cigarette smoke on bronchial fibroblast-to-myofibroblast transition, and whether aclidinium bromide inhibits this process. Human bronchial fibroblasts were incubated with aclidinium bromide (10 −9 –10 −7 M) and exposed to cigarette smoke extract. Collagen type I and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) expression were measured …

Background MASK-air® is an app that supports allergic rhinitis patients in disease control. Users register daily allergy symptoms and their impact on activities using visual analog scales (VASs). We aimed to assess the concurrent validity, reliability, and responsiveness of these daily VASs. Methods Daily monitoring VAS data were assessed in MASK-air® users with allergic rhinitis. Concurrent validity was assessed by correlating daily VAS values with those of the EuroQol-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) VAS, the Control of Allergic Rhinitis and Asthma Test (CARAT) score, and the Work Productivity and Activity Impairment Allergic Specific (WPAI-AS) Questionnaire (work and activity impairment scores). OBSTACLE PROBLEMS FOR DEGENERATE ELLIPTIC EQUATIONS WITH NONHOMOGENEOUS NONLINEAR BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

2008

In this paper we study the questions of existence and uniqueness of solutions for equations of type - div a(x,Du) + γ(u) ∋ ϕ, posed in an open bounded subset Ω of ℝN, with nonlinear boundary conditions of the form a(x,Du) · η + β(u) ∋ ψ. The nonlinear elliptic operator div a(x,Du) modeled on the p-Laplacian operator Δp(u) = div (|Du|p-2Du), with p > 1, γ and β maximal monotone graphs in ℝ2 such that 0 ∈ γ(0) ∩ β(0), [Formula: see text] and the data ϕ ∈ L1(Ω) and ψ ∈ L1(∂ Ω). Since D(γ) ≠ ℝ, we are dealing with obstacle problems. For this kind of problems the existence of weak solution, in the usual sense, fails to be true for nonhomogeneous boundary conditions, so a new concept of solut…

Nonlinear balayage on metric spaces

2009

We develop a theory of balayage on complete doubling metric measure spaces supporting a Poincaré inequality. In particular, we are interested in continuity and p-harmonicity of the balayage. We also study connections to the obstacle problem. As applications, we characterize regular boundary points and polar sets in terms of balayage. Pueblo de santos y peregrinaciones en las diócesis de Autun y de Nevers: del tiempo de los mártires al tiempo de las reformas, IV - XVIII siglos

2006

Between the IVth and the XVIIIth century in Burgundy (Nevers to Vezelay area), the number of pilgrimage churches have increased with an important renewal rate. Indeed, the choice of saints, institutions, or objects of devotion depends on various references. Adapting the framework and updating hagiography to the evolution of piety are means of preservation against disinterest and decreased gains. What is miraculous or not is changing and depends on unstable religious and social settings, therefore it becomes necessary to consider both important and sustainable sites than short-lived ones and vain attempts to develop a pilgrimage site. By resorting as much as possible to the original document…

Quantitative and qualitative control of antineoplastic preparations: Gravimetry versus HPLC.

2019

This article compares gravimetry vs. high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as quality control (QC) methods for paclitaxel, docetaxel and oxaliplatin preparations. We aimed at assessing the preparation method reliability in our hospital, evaluating compounding accuracy and estimating the influence of personnel training and standardized homogenization on compounding accuracy. Agreement, correlation, concordance, accuracy and precision between methods were evaluated for each drug. Conforming preparation percentages (CPs) at different tolerance limits (TLs) and compounding accuracy were calculated for each method and drug. Compounding accuracy was compared before and after personnel tra…

Cross-cultural adaptation and test-retest reliability of the spanish ROWAN foot pain assessment questionnaire (ROFPAQ-S)

2020

Background The ROWAN Foot Pain Assessment Questionnaire (ROFPAQ) may be considered as a self-reported health questionnaire with 45 items to measure foot health problems such as foot pain. To date, the ROFPAQ has only been validated into an English-language version. Objectives Therefore this study aim was to perform the cross-cultural adaptation and test-retest reliability of the Spanish ROFPAQ version (ROFPAQ-S). Study design A cross-sectional descriptive study. Settings Podiatry and physiotherapy clinical centers. Methods The recommended forward/backward translation protocol was applied for the procedure of translation and cross-cultural adaptation from United Kingdom to Spain. Results An …

Parental-caregiver perceptions of child oral health-related quality of life (P-CPQ): Psychometric properties for the peruvian spanish language.

2013

Objectives: The aim of the study was to cross-culturally adapt the Parental-Caregiver Perceptions Questionnaire (P-CPQ) to the Peruvian Spanish language and assess its reliability and validity. Study Design: To translate and cross-cultural adapt the instrument, 60 parents answered the P-CPQ in two pilot tests. The final version of the P-CPQ was evaluated in 200 parents of children aged 11 to 14 years, who were clini - cally examined for dental caries. The internal consistency was assessed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient while repeat administration of the P-CPQ on the same 200 children facilitated the test-retest reliability via intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Construct and discrim…
