Ikonoklazm – spór religijny czy polityczny? Leona III idea obrony czystości wiary i uniformizacji państwa

2017

Effect of magnetic fields on seedling growth and cyto-morphogenesis inSinapis albaL.

2001

Abstract The magnetic treatment presented in this study could be included among cultivation procedures aimed at a better utilisation of plant species. The treatment enhances seedling growth (expressed in fresh weight or in length of the hypocotyl) stimulates morphogenic events (premature differentiation of the reticulate xylem elements, increased wall thickness, reduction of the xylem diameter, increase of acid phosphatases) and renders the seedling batches more homogeneous. Our study demonstrates that exposure to weak (30 mT) magnetic fields for short periods (15, 30, 60 seconds) stimulates seedling growth.

Quality control of commercial mustard by thin-layer chromatography

2005

Horseradish samples ( Cochlearis armoracia L. ) and mustard samples ( Sinapis alba L. ) were extracted with 70:30 ( v/v ) methanol-water in accordance with ISO method 91671. Samples of commercial mustard with and without horseradish were submitted to the same extraction procedure. Separation of the active compounds from these samples were performed on silica gel 60 plates with preconcentration zone and on silica gel F 254 high-performance thin-layer chromatography plates, with iso -propanol-25% ammonia, 90 + 10 ( v/v ), containing different volumes of distilled water (1, 2, 3, or 5 parts), as mobile phases. After development the compounds were visualized in UV light at λ = 254 nm or by expo…

Does shape matter? preferences for a female therapist's figure among patients with eating disorders

2007

Abstract Although the female therapist's figure has been a topic of discussion with regard to psychotherapy for eating disorders, it has not yet been addressed empirically. In this study, participants with eating disorders (n =34) and a control group of participants with anxiety disorders (n =30) were asked to indicate how important the therapist's figure is to them and what shape they would prefer a therapist to have. The therapist's figure was more important among participants with eating disorders than among those with anxiety disorders. Participants in both groups favored a therapist with an average figure. Within both groups, participants preferred their therapist to have a shape simil…

Conscious and unconscious identification of female anorectic patients in in-patient psychotherapy

2009

Women are up to ten times more likely to develop anorexia nervosa (AN) than men. Psychoanalytic explanations of this disparity generally emphasize female identification problems due to unresolved conflicts with maternal representations. Based on clinical observation, we identify a subtype of AN patients characterized, first, by consistent idealization of the father who needs the patient for the fulfilment of his own narcissistic needs and, second, by the patient's need to be idealized by the father due to suffering in connection with early emotional malnutrition on the part of the mother. To illustrate this hypothesis, we present the case of a well-educated young woman displaying unconsciou…

Virtual reality in the treatment of claustrophobic fear: A controlled, multiple-baseline design

2000

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of virtual reality (VR) exposure in the treatment of claustrophobic fear. We evaluated the intervention following a controlled, multiple-baseline design across 4 participants with claustrophobic fear who sought psychological help in our anxiety disorders clinic. The treatment consisted of 8 individual VR graded exposure sessions. Data were obtained at pretreatment, posttreatment, and 3-month follow-up on several clinical measures: Behavioral Avoidance Test, Self-Efficacy Toward Closed Spaces, Problem-Related Impairment Questionnaire, Beck Depression Inventory (Beck, 1978), and Anxiety Sensitivity Index (Peterson & Reiss, 1992). Therapeutic Alliance: What Can be Learned from Case Studies?

1992

Two different video-taped short-term psychotherapies were rated on therapeutic alliance for 27 sessions. The ratings were based on two methods: the Penn Helping Alliance Scales (Penn-HAS) and the Therapeutic Alliance Rating Scale (TARS). Both scales provide separate scores for the therapist and the patient. After checking the reliabilities of the ratings, the strength and course of the alliance formation are compared within and across therapies. Furthermore it was hypothesized that the alliance is structured differently in the two therapies. This hypothesis is tested by making content-specific item comparisons across the therapies for the Penn-HAS and by a comparison of the factor structure…

The assimilation of problematic experiences in linguistic therapy of evaluation: How did maría assimilate the experience of dizziness?

2006

Abstract The assimilation model proposes eight stages through which patients with problematic experiences pass during assimilation, ranging from suppression or dissociation to mastery. These are summarized in the Assimilation of Problematic Experiences Scale (APES). The assimilation model and the APES have been developed through intensive qualitative study of significant therapeutic events. This article describes the process of assimilation of the problematic experiences of dizziness in a patient, Maria, treated with linguistic therapy of evaluation. All treatment sessions were analyzed with the goals of describing the process of assimilation and connecting this process with the therapeutic…
